Kimsufi 8G came with 1TB

It seems like my Kimsufi only came with one HDD, atleast in the default install. It should be 2TB, with two disks.

Has anyone else experienced such a thing with Kimsufi's?

  • Did you order RAID0 or RAID1? It's 2 of 1TB drives. In RAID1 that's 1TB, in RAID0 that's 2TB.

  • Back when I tested those BHS servers they were setup by default with software RAID1, make sure this is not the case here too

    What happens if 1 HDD breaks down and is replaced by them. Will they also rebuild the array for you?

    I'd assume not - they aren't managed servers. Its software raid anyway - you can do this yourself.

    mdadm raid1 is easy to rebuild, I asume they will only repalce the hardware.

    Assuming OVH used FakeRAID in BIOS then the OS won't be aware of the second drive.

    It's unlikely.

    OP, what's the output of cat /proc/mdstat

    using it for seeding torrents and xrdp

  • @emre you got a pentium? lol.

  • Kimsufi/OVH/whatever had an error!?

    They're THE BEST dedicated server provider EVER. Everyone else should pack up and go home.

    I dont think they use fake raid. Atom boards that I know dont have it and linux wont like it in most cases so they will surely not go that way.

    @concerto49 I never had that choice in the order process, although I'm fine with RAID1. Who knows, one HDD might crash tomorrow.

    However, Thank you for clarifying!

    @Alex_LiquidHost Yeah. RAID 1.

    root@hicati:~# cat /proc/mdstat
    Personalities : [linear] [raid0] [raid1] [raid10] [raid6] [raid5] [raid4] [multipath] [faulty]
    md1 : active raid1 sdb1[1] sda1[0]

    md2 : active raid1 sdb2[1] sda2[0]
    955260864 blocks [2/2] [UU]

    unused devices:

    @Maounique

    Intel® Core™ i3 2130

    Kimsufi 8G isn't on an Atom board. Correct me if I'm wrong

    Thank you everyone!

  • You can reinstall the OS using the manager and set up Raid 0 instead or no raid etc.

  • shovenoseshovenose Member, Host Rep

    Mine has i3 from ovh.com/us

  • You will need to make the root partition raid 1. Its not optional - I've just done it.

    Wrong.

    Only /boot has to be raid 1 or no raid but everything else can be Raid 0.

    I have a few servers setup in a stripe.

  • Yeah my bad sorry boot. Wrote it on my phone half paying attention whilst playing the Xbox..
