If Im going to run VestaCP to host a site in a vps, at the same time run OpenVPN on the node for private use, is there any security risk? Will these combination actually work together?

  • Security risk? If you know what you are doing, no.

Will they work? Sure, as long as you are not using port 80, 443, 53 (if you are hosting dns on there), or any other ports that are used (like port 25 SMTP, etc.).

You should note that if your www site and VPN use the same public IP address, your access to the www service will not be passed through the VPN - ie will be unencrypted.

You can prevent this with some fiddling but by default that will happen.

Other than that, just the usual risk of vulnerability in X giving access to Y.
