New website:
http://www.online.net/en

Now basic support include 10 IP / server (instead of 5)

There is a setup fee for IP's (3 euro)

Now there are 3-6TB Disks and SSD-s with one time fee. Also business level is must for this.

The Hosting cloud feature for shared hosting with dedicated cores/memory:

    Ips are expensive!

That's interesting. Do they offer some kind of redundancy or HA on this solution? (Doesn't seem like it from what I read, it seems like it's just a scaleway instance with custom image, right?)

I am not really much into servers , but what does that mean and how does it effect the server usability ?

  • Just bought e3 server here.... When I reboot a ubuntu server it takes around to 5-10 minutes to boot it....OVH does it in 30 seconds...

Everything feels like a cheaper version of OVH... Not in pricing, but overall quality.

  • Well the E3-s are shit. I used those DELL servers. Not really liked it. But this... http://www.online.net/en/dedicated-server/dedibox-md

    This will work like hell

  • Still no SSL support for hosting I assume...

I am extremely unsatisfied with their routing. From my provider in Germany (DTAG) I get very bad speeds and I know other people having the same issues. Can't even use Plex streaming. If you report it they will ask you to boot in recovery mode. Although you explain to them, that the exact same routing issue happens when loading their test files from http://ping.online.net/

In general you get pretty good value for money with their limited offers, but I would never use them for actual projects. OVH on the other side has much nicer routing to any part of the world, but no gigabit special offers.

The Page is neat, but the IP prices, holy shit.

RIPE is still full enought so far.

That's because DTAG is a massive cunt when it comes to peering. Also OVH should have their problems with them, I suppose.

  • How can I test peering?

    3E -> 18E . Very nice re-purposing :)

OVH has 120 Gbps direct connection to DTAG in Frankfurt.

Okay, that's cool for DTAG customers! Good connectivity to them costs a surprice at Hetzner.

    That cunt/peering thing remains.

Fair point well made. But in the end when I and all my visitors on DTAG lines get speeds below 2Mbit/s I don't really care who is a cunt.

Sure, I am completely with you!

  • we should have a much better peering with DTAG (through Hopus) shortly, that will solve all issues with them

    DTAG - is it T-Mobile?
Is it correct to test it here http://speedtest.t-online.de/#/ ?

    I run a test from online.net dedibox

    Very strange pings...

  • Gulf said: DTAG - is it T-Mobile?

    Correct

  • From OVH

You can find a looking glass from DTAG here: https://f-lga1.f.de.net.dtag.de/index.php

  • Not so much better from OVH. I guess their DTAG direct connection is quite congested.
