InterWorx vs cPanel

edited October 2015 in Help

Looking around the best control panel for free hosting project. I know cPanel for a long long time, but how about InterWorx? Personally I like their style and functionality, but! There is a huge downside - InterWorx does not support e-mail rate limiting.

Can anyone share their experience about Interworx?

  • I loved interworx I thought you were able to limit emails per hour in noeworx.

But for the cost it is cheaper than cpanel and a solid control panel.

You could add this yourself, or wait for them to add it.

I heard this is due in the next major release

Not gonna happen :( http://www.interworx.com/ideas/email-rate-limiting/ 2 years old request.

  • Then implement yourself or change panel. Most panels including free panels support this functionality. I think VestaCP supports it, if you want a zero cost panel.

It will be :) they've been dying to add this but they needed to update and improve their core to use modern / latest technology which is where 5.1 will step in. 5.0 uses PHP 5.3, MySQL, the 5.1 uses PHP 5.5 and Percona MySQL for their core.

  • InterWorx is easy to use , very secure, just as feature rich, and a great value compared to cPanel. I would recommend visiting their front page and doing the free trial to get a feel for the control panel. As to the support from email rate-limiting, I reached out and that is under development.

  • Speaking of 5.1, it's finally in Release for Centos 6, Centos 7 is still in RC I believe: http://forums.interworx.com/threads/8355-InterWorx-Version-5-1-0-Released!

    Roll on the future :D

  • Nice! but still no e-mail rate limit feature :D Going with cPanel.

  • will have to give this Interworx a try. Had heard good things but didn't really look into it that much. Your reconmendations are really helpful

You say that about 99% of feature requests in Interworx/Blesta that have been open for a longggg time...

You seen to forget Jonathan, that I have contacts with the directors / main developers of them both so I know what their targets are and what they are hoping to get out… Doesn't take a genius to work that out.

I'm just saying... if any of the "already working on it" posts were true, interworx/blesta would be the most polished and perfected product on the market. They're both still significantly inferior in features and UI vs the market leaders. Maybe the directors / main developers you know are focusing on the wrong targets.

Depend on demand, Some peoples like to use new things.

    Interworx is cheaper then cPanel.

FYI, email rate limit feature on cPanel isn't that useful as it doesn't limit mails sent from php scripts.

Guess what...? https://requests.whmcs.com/responses/stripe-payment-gateway-module 2 years and counting... so they aren't the only two who have had stuff requested and they have loads more devs.

    and more....

There's so many well-done third party alternatives that there's no need...

    =====
    https://dev.blesta.com/browse/CORE-621

How is mass mailing still not included within blesta? There's still basically no bulk edit tools, invoice editing is still awkward, etc. etc.

This is from MONTHS ago, and it's still true..

It seems blesta's focusing more on niche/fluff features and creating awkward videos that demonstrate them than actually working on the product...

I'm not a WHMCS fanboy by any means. It has its flaws... I use Blesta as well so obviously I don't hate it. It's just annoying as hell to see you defend Blesta every time it's mentioned instead of acknowledging the problems and talking to these "contacts" of yours and convincing them to work on useful features.

That's defeats your first post, since other third party people can make anything, loads of people have been asking for a official one for over two years and still ask about it today: http://forums.whmcs.com/showthread.php?104870-Stripe-support&p=439562#post439562

They are the only billing system to date which doesn't need you to use a third party or pay one to use it.

Again it's not a critical thing missing, and people can use other sources, by extracting the email addresses from Blesta using the custom reports and mail chimp, it's not end of the world I can't get paid from a client, or oh no I'm hacked type issues.

And for your information it's planned for 4.0.0: https://dev.blesta.com/projects/CORE/versions/10603 And that's guaranteed to be in it since Blesta has changed and removed all tasks from a version until it's confirmed and they are going to do it. Which is why the Backlog is now bigger.

It's the same as you defending WHMCS like above with theird party links because WHMCS can't do one themselves with over 10+ developers with the help of cPanel… Let's just hope their record isn't like the PHP / Windows / etc where Version 6 is a fail.

    https://wiki.php.net/rfc/php6

Version 6 is generally associated with failure in the world of dynamic languages. PHP 6 was a failure; Perl 6 was a failure. It's actually associated with failure also outside the dynamic language world - MySQL 6 also existed but never released. The perception of version 6 as a failure - not as a superstition but as a real world fact (similar to the association of the word 'Vista' with failure) - will reflect badly on this PHP version.
