is there an option to change port? will it work on nat vps'?
Edit the squid.conf in either /etc/squid or /etc/squid3 and change the port there (it's like the first line).
It will work on a NAT VPS if you use a port that is open and forwarded to your VPS.
but imagine i cant edit network settings, just enter via browser.
squid is to setup on browser settings.
Oh, that is what you are looking for. Those are mostly very easy to detect with firewalls by doing actual content filtering.
If you have a modern browser like Firefox/Chrome it lets you install plugins/addons as a normal user on Windows, Linux and Mac OS (Firefox even on mobile devices).

Who is using these anyway nowadays? Firefox allows to set proxies without modifying OS proxy settings.
