Need for testing purposes. Should be on unicom/telecom/railcom whatever, inside china behind the GFW. Will not be running WWW, no license required. Provider should accept paypal/google etc.

Internet-related resources(domains, hostings, etc.) are quite expensive within China, haven't seen any LEB behind GFW as far as I can recall.
And maybe you could check sinoservers, though not at a LEB price, I haven't used their servers so no comment here.
Also, It'll be much more easier if you are able to read Chinese :)

  • What about russia? Does anyone know of a leb russian provider? Nothing illegal, building a cdn : |

  • Thanks @AstroProfundis - actually I use SinoServers already. Although they've gone offline for a few days they work well enough - looking for other similar options (Even if not LEB priced)

  • Do not contain political, pornographic, other is ok。

  • @aker - it will not contain any content or run any public services

  • @unused If you are somehow able to read Chinese you can have a look at aliyun and grandcloud, I can't find English page on their site, nor do they seem to accept paypal :(
hichina has a Eng page and do accept paypal, but I'm quite sure they are on a high price level.

  • I'd go with something on the US West Coast or somewhere else in Asia

In China, the use of websites(domains, hostings) need to use ICP filing, filing needs China authentication(ID card) photographs and other information. Otherwise you will not visit the site, in a black list.

If you put no web content on the server(not able to visit your server via http/https, not sure about ftp), ICP cert is not a must

  • I saw a lot in Taobao.

Yees in Taobao there are some, while those shared IP LEB will drive you mad.

  • @AstroProfundis said: ICP cert is not a must

Actually yes, the ICP is only limited to local Chinese, i have asked about relevant authorities, they are also unsure if foreigners need to have an ICP.

taobao shoping ,If you are somehow able to read Chinese.

  • @aker You will sell this domain t(ao)b(ao)vps.com?
    that is a nice niche.

Don't you get a pocket lamp from buying a VPS anyway? What's the point? :)

Maybe others do, who knows? :) http://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/159058

  • I can help you with that, there are little providers accept paypal/google!
So if you really want to buy a vps I think I can give you a hand!

Would you mind sharing us the providers' websites?

  • @DannyAlex
I want to share some providers' website with you,but if you don't have a chinese phone and identification card for validation then you can't buy it!

http://www.aliyun.com $1.3 for the first month,I can give you the coupon!!
    1core,512M,40G,1M(Port Speed)
So if you just want to have a test and no requirement on port speed ,this is the best choice for you!

    http://www.grandcloud.cn/ I don't recommend this one!

Other are very little providers and I don't familar with that, you can find it on taobao.com !

  • @stack neither aliyun nor grandcloud support paypal, they support Alipay instead, thus they are not designed to be sold to foreigners :(

  • @AstroProfundis Yes currently few Chinese based provider accept Paypal.
We have talked to some providers, only to be told that there's still no policy on selling native hosting services to foreigners.

I can see the difficulty XD

I saw the title, and I got curious on the actual possibility of having a LEB from within the great firewall of China, since it seems like it would be pricey normally with all the requirements and paperwork to operate a website/server from within. (Would appear they really don't like non-chinese from owning anything within China).

  • @kbeezie actually there are some SHARED IP 'LEB' within GFW, but none are reliable.

Hrm, while I've never had the need to have a website within China, I've always seemed to hear that Singapore was the next best thing if you needed good ping/latency to Chinese visitors.

Yes, the best 4 choice are Hong Kong/Korea/Singapore/Japan

  • Taiwan also could be considered if you get enough money in pocket.
