I know for sure due to past experience that you can in fact go into the Quadranet DC in Los Angeles. My servers are collocated in there and when I go to CA to visit I can actually visit my servers. So I would recommend Quadranet. Of course you need to show the proper paperwork upon the visit but yep its pretty neat.

Most big datacenter you can go 24/7 using the provided access card or similar identification (depends on dc).

  • Most let you in yes, however unless you have half a rack or more they usually don't grant you a card or anything for 24hr access. I remember being allowed at any point between 08:00AM & 6PM

  • Noob question: How do they know you're not messing with someone else's hardware?

  • At Quadranet your only able to access your server area, and also usually there are cameras and someone walks with you or your access to your private server room.

Yes, you should be able to get full access to your server.

@dustinc give this person a quote and some more info :)

  • Some DCs @Dacentec is one. If you have less than 1/4 of a rack you do not have access to the datacenter

Many companies only allow escorted access for shared colocation i.e. 1U, 2U etc but if they have lockable racks, and quarter racks they would add you into all the biometric stuff and give you 24/7 access.
