No.
No, you'll probably be asked for more information about your intended usage/requirements and spammed with a list of links to webhosts contact forms.
It's no problem if the requester has custom/specific needs. And yes, although very rarely, sometimes better offers pop up in a request thread.
For a second I thought you want adult content servers (XXX) urg..
Same.
OP: Yes, some times providers post special offers, or you may get to know about some providers which don't advertise so much here.
This was completely unintentional.
It does say something about your mindset however ;-)
If it was intentional, it also says something about yours, doesn't it?
I meant unintentional, which is fixed now.
But if it were intentional, you are right.
Who doesn't love XXX?
We somehow share some common mindset.
Mindset issues aside...
I think the main (read: only) advantage to having the providers "come to you" in the form of a request shows which providers are really "hungry" for the business. Some would see this as an advantage, while others would just be bombarded by offers. It really depends on your position
I came here for pictures of servers in erotic positions. I am highly disappointed by this thread.
Also, as far as your question OP, I do the same most of the time. I've only went out to ask for things that I couldn't find easily available. I feel like the people who need to open a thread for every generic request are probably the people who'd rather ask someone a question versus googling it instead. I'm not sure how I feel about this.
I tried it today for fun, got some interesting offers.. nothing that I haven't already seen in the offer section.. Will i pursue any of the offers? maybe.
Can't help but comment on the xxx thing. Surely the OP is not unaware of common usage (going back decades) as well as the public discussion and controversy in both mainstream and IT news about the .xxx TLD. This has nothing to do with mindset.
Anyway, I think that asking for offers here does have a practical use. I often see suggestions which I would not necessarily or easily have found. I try to make a mental note, but some time in the future I may not remember. The collective noses here are sniffing everywhere and are often aware of interesting offers.
Are you the developer of xprivacy app? I remember seeing your profile pic on Xda long back.
Do you like video?
I'm not sure if I want to know how you learned about things like these.
I thought you wanted to find some porn servers. Lol.
Yes, I am, but as you see I have other interests as well, which is also at times for customers.
I have clarified the title somewhat to get the discussion on track, but I guess it is too late now.
Of course it's not too late - honest mistake.
Again, honest answer: People here are often privy to interesting offers that one might not easily find by searching at any particular time. It's worth asking.
