Is there any way to talk with the program running in a screen session, for example, sending a script to the program, retrieving the program's output?

If you know R software then it is the program I mentioned on.

@tinyray you could log the programs output to a text file and then work with that text file.

This was discussed in IRC a few weeks ago, I forget with-who, but we came up with:

To send a script to the program, echoing commands to the correct file descriptor of the process ID would be the best solution, but did not work for my process. Thank you for your quick feedback,
To be clear: Assume that I open a screen session on my desktop, from the screen session, I open a SSH session onto a remote server. I then quit the screen session.

Is there any way to send a text from my desktop to that server and ask it send the text back via email using the screen session which is currently not attached.

@Damian, I tried the post#9 in the thread you provided, but could not get it work even with a simple command: ls , any hint?
