OneWeb will the corporate/government supported web be a success?

MaouniqueMaounique Host Rep, Veteran

OneWeb is the quintessential corporate/government partnership and it is likely will push that agenda, but can it replace existing GSM infrastructure, as well as cable/tv/radio/landline infrastructure, except in towns and where 50 mbps is not enough?
The network is supposed to have 10 TB capacity, but a lot of it will be used to carry data from one sat to another and will be over "deadspots", places where almost nobody will need it, like deserts/oceans. I think some 30% will actually be used at maximum, still 3 Tb/s is not little today, but if it will carry so much multimedia, i really hope by the time it will launch in 2017 the earliest, the technology implemented will allow at least 100 times faster connections. If so, a lot of spectrum and radiation will be saved, not to mention maintenance, rent, etc. The industry is heading towards a new era, perhaps cheaper and more concentrated at a global scale.
Any thoughts?
