How long is a normal **ioping -RD ./ **supposed to take?

It depends on the drive, raid card if any, load, connection (local or SAN) etc.

Do you have any specific performance issue with this server?

  • IOps seem low, but the latency looks 'ok'

Activities which need to read from the disk are very slow. dd commands are not stellar but I have seen worse.

    root@localhost:~# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync; rm test
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 10.9829 s, 97.8 MB/s

It is a VPS and it has been usable until the last 24 hours or so.

    Just ran a quick comparison

Looks fairly consistent with LE* VPS with local storage and SATA drives. Bear in mind this drives aren't dedicated to you, they are shared with other, some times with a lot of, customers.

  • and the same VM

    [root@web ioping-0.6]# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync; rm test
