how do I configure polipo?

4n0nx4n0nx Member

Hi,

modifying /etc/polipo/options has no effects whatsoever. I can only configure polipo through the web interface. I tried on Debian 7 (server), Ubuntu 14.04 (server) and Ubuntu 14.04 (Laptop).

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

  • Maybe because you're modifying the wrong file?

If you want to use a configuration file, you should put it in one of

the locations '/etc/polipo/config' or '~/.polipo'; you can also use
the '-c' flag to put it in a non-standard location.

Thanks. I thought I had been using that but I guess I haven't.

Now it works on my Ubuntu Laptop but the configuration part of the web interface returns 404. (???)

When I use iptables to route all traffic on my server through a local proxy (tor) it works fine. When I route the traffic through polipo first and specify the local tor proxy as socksParentProxy in polipo, I am unable to access anything other than the polipo configuration page.

E.g. wget google.com shows correct google IP but I only receive polipo welcome page as index.html .

    Any idea why?
