DelimiterVPS 1y6m Review

I have been a customer with Delimiter since 12/01/2013, so a little under one year and six months but close enough.

To start out with, my initial setup time did take longer. I ordered on 12/1/2013 and setup was delivered EOD 12/6/2013. I ordered the X5150, standard configuration. Beyond setup time, everything had been smooth including installation over KVM (BYOL Windows). The standard gigabit port is amazing. Speedtest rates 600/600 synchronous upload and download for closest server.

There was an isolated issue in which network connectivity was degraded back in September 2014. It took around 6 hours in total to resolve and switch routing from Level3 (which was the carrier having issues). It wasn't much of a Delimiter issue as it was the carrier's issue.

Support has always been friendly and cooperative. I have not yet experienced any issues with support. They've always been quick and friendly when tickets are marked at appropriate severity levels.

I did upgrade recently to a L5520. However, during that time, they had an E3-1230 ready to go, same specs. I opted for that and haven't looked back. As of recent, they are providing SSL certificates, Blesta Interworx, and VestaCP license which is nice to have (specially SSL certificate).

Delimiter is the best budget provider with the best bang for buck. Why fix something that's not broken?

    How many times have you contacted support in the last year and a half? Just curious.

  • got some benchmarks or DD p0rn?

    17 tickets total since 12/01/2013

    ===
    2x Sales

    1x Billing

    14x Server Support

    ===
    1x opened by Delimiter

    13x opened by User

    ===
    2x P1 issues

    4x P2 issues

    7x P3 issues

    ===

    There was a period of sporadic tickets together, with a frequency of a ticket every ~3 months or so. Unfortunately I do not have an DD porn since I'm on Windows (SINNER!) and I don't know how fair it would be to run those tests through Virtualbox.

    I should make mention that this is not a production box or used for production content. It's solely used for content transcoding and streaming.

    This is the drive currently in the machine.

    For how many users?

    Currently just my own content. I also run a virtual machine instance that powers my websites and occasionally another VM running Windows for a virtualized, secure desktop. Nothing taxing, but the 5150 can be troublesome with some 1080p high bitrate content.

    Yeah, I think Plex recommends something with a passmark of at least 3k for 1080p So I can see that's a bit underpowered for the job.

    It worked up until a few months ago. And upon examination later on down the road, it wasn't entirely necessary since it was a Chrome/Plex new player issues with audio sync.
    But it gives me the power to grow into it and not worry about space to (with a 1TB HD opposed to 500GB).

    And it still it struggled with 1080p transcoding? That's not great.

    It actually ran it like a champ. It was a misdiagnosis on my part and was attributed to the stable version of Chrome. It gave me an out to upgrade. There was few content that it was able to transcode without issue.

    Personally, I do not believe DelimiterVPS needs a review, more applicable an applause, perhaps a standing ovation of some sort

    Really?

    They're a cheap dedi provider, with a quality of support that appears to vary wildly between top-notch and apparently ignoring tickets. They're hardly the second coming :-/
