  • Maybe they are planning to open a datacenter in Finland next?

Hetzner Online has signed a contract with Finnish connectivity provider Cinia Group Ltd. for the acquisition of an undersea cable that will provide the first direct cable link between mainland Europe and the Nordic region.

That doesn't sound quite right unless Denmark doesn't count as mainland Europe.

  • Many million euro on the table there...

Not sure why they build new cables when a 40G wave Helsinki-Frankfurt costs not more than 1500EUR/month (Interoute pricing) and is plenty available (Telia owns a LOT of fiber in that region)

  • Is it Helsinki-Frankfurt or Helsinki-Stockholm-xxx-Frankfurt?

  • Main Helsinki <-> FRA - Legs to Riga, LV - Stockholm, SE - Warsaw, PL - Copenhagen, DK
