  • No, they have advanced DDOS protection.

Do you have a ticket ID? We've been a bit understaffed this weekend. Aldryic's fighting a cold and I've been busy smacking my head over a Jersey box. I'm still actively working on it to figure things all out, finally made some headway a little bit ago.

We had some issues on our webserver in LV around the same time so it was a bit messy at times.

  • I don't understand why people can't wait as they complain for ticket being not answered. You should have waited. A site is doen't mean it is down due to DDoS, may have been upgradation to the site.

To be fair we're usually very much on the ball with ticket times so 6 hours waiting is very out of the norm for us.

There's no need to be hard on the OP or anything, they've done nothing wrong and I apologize for the issues that node has had and the slower response times.

With that being said, SSD's and all that good stuff arrived in NJ and are currently being planned out. 128MB's are getting their much needed face lift as well.

    Not anymore, no.

We used CNServers a long time ago but we had serious issues with their stance on certain customers.

I'm not sure why we'd downgrade our offerings from 100gbit+ to CNS' 10 - 20gbit protection, especially since CNS is now using voxility for at least some of their filtering.

TL;DR they hate the chinese (even though i'm fairly sure the owner is in China).

If you have a client that ran anything MMO related, or gameserver related, and was Chinese? Welcome to nullville, population, your clients.

Aldryic had very heated arguments with them over it since they'd null customers then claim DDOS attacks that were never, ever, accurate. One client we had at awknet was eating ~300k pps spoofed SYN floods, yet the minute we get into CNS and they see it's a chinese MMO, they're "suddenly getting 10gbit+ of spoofed SYN".

The service was alright once we explained to users how UDP was handled in their location.

Francisco/Buyvm. Stop spreading your lies while you know nothing about ddos protection.

You pay ~$200 a month to protect multiple /24s and expect us to protect your high risk (> 20Mpps) chinese clients. We have other customers to protect, we have our own network to protect, these clients of yours are causing issues to other customers. so we ask you to move them to another network. You refused, so either you leave or we keep null routing them. Nobody wants null routing, but that's what you get when you only pay $200/m and expect 40G+ protection. We only guarantee you 1Gbps protection, and we always keep our word. You don't like it that's fine, go to other providers, but you shouldn't start to spread lies because we don't want to host you and your customers.

Clamhost, what are you talking about? You never are a customer of Cnservers.

    1. Your prices are your issue, not anyone else's. If you cannot offer service at those prices, who's fault is that?
    2. People come to a DDoS protected service because they are at risk. You expect to sell DDoS protection to people which are not being attacked?

Check my initial signup emails. Subnets went live and within a couple hours you blocked people for MMO.

CNSjack said: We never promise to protect them from the large attacks they are attracting

I did read. Yet you are making different arguments.
    Now to the points:
    1. Large attacks, hum. OK, nobody expects you to offer 80 gbps protection for 40 gbps paid, yet nulling at 1 gbps is not correct. 1 Gbps can handle my home connection, albeit with some packet loss. If you null at 1 gbps, then you should sell 1 gbps protection, not 40 gbps.
    2. Considering that was the deal, 1 gbps cutoff, then, ok, but if that happens, some proof is needed, then informing the customer is also required.
    3. You cannot judge risk, that is not your job or right, if the IP is attacked in conditions exceeding the contract, you null, that is it, what is hosted there should never be your concern, you just inform the customer it was nulled and for that and that pps/flood at that and that hour and the time it will be released as per the contract.
    4. It is not your concern how many IPs are protected, your only concern should be that the floods do not exceed the advertised protection threshold. Making the argument: "you cannot expect us to hold on our end of the bargain if you do this and that" will not score you any points, if you cannot provide the service, you are not making the deal.

    A) no flood was going on
    B) < 200k PPS floods

Remember, i was using my own IP's so I could easily move my subnets around and did MANY times to prove you were full of it.

We did though. I had discussions on the live chat where you stated it was 2M pps and 10gbit burst.

Again, you made claims of floods that never existed. We moved the clients back at the same time you claimed the flood was going on and in many cases it was never going on or was much much smaller (well under the 1gbit port we had at awknet for TCP filtering).

Is there a chance they only turned up the heat when the flood was at CNS? Maybe, but given we only had ~1M pps of TCP filtering in awknet it is more likely they'd hit harder over there.

    Christ you guys.

Listen. If I wanted to start a pissing contest with the CNS guys we would've done so when we left. We weren't happy with them cherry picking our clients that were breaking no North American laws, simple as that.

At no point did we expect them to provide 50gbit of filtering in the pricing we paid. We did expect them to provide the filtering we agreed to (2M pps TCP or 10gbit UDP), and there was many times they didn't want to.

I couldn't have an upstream being pissy because "this guy owes me money" or "I really hate lineage 2, I kept getting 0wned in arena, so this has to go". To date Staminus provided the best customer service we ever had with a filtering vendor and Voxility is a close 2nd.

Maybe i'm not remembering the 1gbit and was thinking based on the PPS. I do know we had 10gbit burst since we had many people get hit with floods in the 5 - 7Gbit range on DNS reflection.

Still, you're not on the same page here, barely even in the same book. At no point did I state I was angry you wouldn't protect from a 30gbit NTP flood. I was fully aware that during the NTP days that a lot of people were getting wrecked, I had the full logs showing those floods. Your upstreams weren't ACL'ing it so I get it was punching you in the face.

Most of our beef came from before NTP was publically known amplification source. The very night I moved in you nulled someone claiming a 10gbit SYN flood. Since we still had Awknet alive and well I shoved that /24 off there and saw no flood.
