[BUYING] Used Servers Anyone?
Hi guys,
Gonna have some spare cash as of Friday, so just wondering if anybody has any used servers they're wanting to get rid of?
Almost all specifications will be considered, but preferably looking for servers with 8GB RAM upwards.
If at all possible, I'd like to buy somewhere in the region of 5 to 10 used servers, preferably from the same seller to avoid any problems or hassle with postage, but will consider single servers too.
Anybody got anything at all ?
Cheers, Liam
PS: Shipping to Kansas City, USA

Have a dual AMD Opteron 2350 with 16gb ram, no drives, no raid card. 2U 8 3.5" hot swap bays, rack rails. I'd like $400 shipped to KC or we can talk about offers.
ebay?
Try these sites if you can't find any here:

Nice sites, but it looks like shipping from those sites to The Netherlands wont be cheap, considering the power supply it wont be smart for me to order from those sites as well.
Could you recommend me some sites that deliver cheap/free to The Netherlands?
Thanks!
@miTgiB is it only the one 2u server that you have?
@rds100 yes, eBay is always gonna be cheap with lots of options, but I'd prefer to go with somebody trusted on here to be honest.
@Victor thanks I'll take a look
this is not bad...

That is good, I guess. :P
The only server I have not in use worthy of being useful. I have dozens of AMD x2's with 2-4gb of ram that I took out of service a few years ago and have fermented into worthlessness.
Don't know many European/Netherlands sites, but here are a few that ships internationally/based out of Europe, so maybe it might help.

Ended up costing me more than 1K but it is pretty sweet:
Here is the server itself:

I added 24GB of RAM:

1 P410 hardware RAID card and had to pay overnight shipping for a RAID card cable because the existing one is not long enough
Added 3 160GB SATA and made a RAID 10.
Same, Europe tho - Got anything to sell?
I arrange pickup by UPS even
I saw this today:

@William what happened with your warehouse full of towers?
@Damian I'd be lying if I said that wasn't tempting
@Damian
I am so purchasing this.
I wonder how much drive bays the chasis support. And do they ship to Europe as well.
@Alex_LiquidHost shipping this from USA to Europe would cost more than the server itself... Then you also have to deal with customs, VAT, etc... generally a big pain in the a..
I'll get it for US colo anyway.. Was just wondering if they ship to Europe.. I can't seem to find reasonably priced old hardware with reasonable delivery to BG. It seems to be times more expensive than the US for older hardware purchases.
@Alex_LiquidHost there is of course constant.bg or realvision.bg but they sell some overpriced and very old junk. If you find something better - let me know, please.
@rds100
http://icd.bg/servers/ - still shitty hardware, but the pricing is more reasonable than the other places I've found that sell hardware in BG.
Not to derail the thread but what do you guys think of a Dell PE2850 or PE1850, do you think it's too old?
Specs:
2x 3.6 xeon ( 64 bit single core)
2 Gb ram
6x 73gb 15k SCSI U320 (PE1850 only 2x HDD)
perc 4 raid
earl, if they're not for virtualisation and just for a regular dedicated they are fine. However if you're coloing them forget it, they chew power! I still have some old Dell 1750's and they eat power like they're trying to heat the world.
@Chief
I actually got them for $50 each, rails included.. not sure why but I seem to like the 2850 more so than my 2950, for one it seems quieter and I think it looks nicer.
was thinking of modifying the backplane to sata but probably not worth the effort..
I did a raid 0 of 6x 73gb 15k u320 scsi and was really disappointed at the results, I think dd test was around 100 MB/s
Forgot to mention that yeah It makes my room really toasty having just one of the server on!!
@liam
Thanks for the tip, looking for some cheap colocation, so if you could PM me any places that you know of that are cheap, that'd be much appreciated.
No need for a heater then. :-)
Still looking guys. All offers considered.
As said in Chat, i need 19"
@William
If you happen to have old hardware, supporting intel VT (or similar AMD tech) and the pricing is reasonable to ship to BG, HMU. I need a home server to do some testing.
Shipping to BG is around 40EUR here for anything, from Towers to 5U 19".
I have some Q6600 here, with up to 16GB ram if you want them...
Depending on the pricing, can you PM me some pricing, generally the lowest end thing that you can build and that would support intel VT
