Recommend wildcard ssl certificates

vyalavyala Member

I needed wildcard certificate for my domain, looking for cheaper option. Found that ssls dot com offer minimum 78 USD per year.

I shall use the ssl certificate with keycdn. Please recommend cheaper option for wildcard. There is no payment related stuffs on my site, just content distribution.

  • Buy a VPS from http://vmbox.co/ and get free wildcard AlphaSSL certificates.

    Can I host the ssl elsewhere, I can buy their Europe vps.

  • Though it is against the terms of alpha ssl,but the ssl can be used on any network

    @arpanjot, thank you, I skip vmbox option. What If I buy alphassl directly, any offers/ discount?

  • GoGetSSL has wildcard cert for €38.31, if you're a reseller. Anyone can apply to be a reseller too.

  • This is cheapest I could find, includes unlimited reissues and support as well.
    https://store.ssl2buy.com/configurableoptions/configurable/102/1/0/0/S2B-AW40 .i got 5 year ssl from them for 30$ per annum which is really good deal. I just checked and they are still selling 5 year ssl, not sure how it is possible since the max length of ssl has been reduced to 39 months. Try contacting them regarding this and discount

    You could make a list of subdomains that you need, and get a free 100-domain certificate from WoSign. https://www.ohling.org/blog/2015/02/wosign-free-2y-ssl-certificate.html

    Thank you all.

    Spend couple hours learning stuffs related to SSLs, came to know that there is option for Multi-Domain SSL.

    I needed about 5 sub-domains, do you think, Multi-domain can fit this as well, I see namecheap is offering multi-domain for about 30 $ with 3 domains and then each domain cost about 12 $. This way, I could even use my other domain.

    @rm_, thanks for Wosign recommendation. Since I am doing the hot-linking images directly into other websites, people don't want to see any warnings.

    @arpanjot, I will contact ssls2buy. 30$ per year is good deal.

    Why would you go for Multi-Domain when you need SSL Enabled on Sub-Domains ?? You can do it by just the WildCard O.o

    Is it not multi-domain ssl support below sub-domains model.

    example.com
    www.example.com
    sub1.example.com
    sub2.example.com

    Any feedback on startssl? https://www.startssl.com/

  • Will you use ssl for personal or commercial purposes? I guess their terms prohibit the use of free ssl on commercial sites.However on personal websites,you can use startssl.

    Yes it does. With WoSign you can get any combination of domains and subdomains up to 100. What you listed will use 4 out of 100 only.

    @rm_

    thanks, I am checking with wosign. Are there any drawbacks with wosign being in China, where as the targeted audiences uses my site across world. ( a simple, image hotlinking site).

    Need for ssl, as one of the convention we promote <img src=//example.com/test.png />, I needed to make it work with https if the link is presented in https webpage.

    @arpanjot,

    I am ok to pay but found that wildcard SSLs are expensive in general, looking for cheaper option. My site is not dealing with e-commerce, but it is not personal use.

  • use cloudflare and you can get it free

  • ^^ this,wondering how did I skip it.Use cloudflare n get free ssl's.Add each sub domain manually under your account and activate ssl for them and you have a wildcard ssl
