Warning about TheHostingSquad.com and Randy

edited August 2012 in General

I know I'm another host, but I am also member of the community. There will be no speculation here, only facts that I think the general public should know.

1.) Randy shared a customers personal information with the public for 2 days before he removed it [1]

2.) Under-stress Randy will dodge questions to avoid telling the truth [2]

3.) Randy has no problems accusing longtime members of the forum of spamming.[3]

4.) One of Randy's windows OS templates was a cracked compromised windows 2008 with a Porn link in the bookmarks. [4]

5.) Randy waited 24 hours before alerting any clients of the compromised installation. [4]

6.) Randy threatened me [5]

7.) After threatening me, he proceeded to DDoS me when I asked this was his response [6]

I know, I want this listed on google to warn potential buyers, if we had stopped hostrail by doing this, then we would not have had such a QQ fest.

Can we put something somewhere about spamming threads just for the sake of making posts?

Are you talking about me? I think this is a necessary legitimate thread.

  • Rated 6 on google already.

Why don't we make wiki articles about known shit/deadpool hosts and reasons why?

    Also, @randy

  • @bijan588 please don't make threads like this. You are runing the show for everyone :'(

Doesn't include shit hosts, and it isn't an official wiki.

This thread isn't even an hour old, give the poor guy a break.

    Speaking of step radio: step.chur.co

My bitrate is better: 128000 vs 48000

  • He already admitted his mistakes, as well as apologized and fixed the errors. End of the day, he's basically in the "learning process" of being a hosting provider.

My only issue is with his useless posts all over the place. Complete waste of my time, screen space and bandwidth. Like I said in his thread, he needs to learn when to shut up. It's bad enough he has almost no respect to others in most of his random replies (eg. posting randomly in another provider's offer thread), but these replies get out of hand really fast.

Yeah, he must be asleep, it's late in Singapore afaik.

I accept that but he should've gained the experience of at least for example Linux and working with terminal etc. before he started a host, that's just dumb in my opinion.

  • off topic

Exactly, I do some remote help task once in a while and today morning, I got an email from a person (Note: He is providing shared hosting for almost 2 mo including wht offers). He asked me to check why apache keeps failing (Cpanel). So for basic troubleshoot and inquiry, I asked him first to run /scripts/rebuildhttpdconf and /scripts/upcp --force via SSH.

    His reply,
"Dude, I got no idea what is SSH and what is terminal." I have redirected him to PSM. That hassle wasn't worthy.

It never made sense that how can you offer (Paid)hosting while you have 0 idea of what exactly is going behind. If it was for learning purpose, do small beta or free service and gain experience. Using paid customers as guinea pig? That is TOO MUCH!

  • I think it's a good thing you're doing @bijan588 ... but sometimes well intended things can produce unforeseen outcomes so be careful.
