Need a small XEN/KVM VPS
Hello,
I need a small XEN/KVM based VPS in EU (or nearby). But it must be outside of OVH/Hetzner network. I will be using it mainly to connect other VPSs I have and also as a VPN for myself. I had my eyes on Prometeus offer but I got only a few hours late and they didn't feel like doing a favour to me. (Their Milano locations gives me good results)
Please provide me an IP along with the offer so I can test ping from my location (Asia) as well as from my VPSs. I am just looking for better connectivity here. (If you don't want to give IP here, PM me)
VPS Specs I am looking for:
1CPU
512MB Ram (384MB will work too even 256MB)
10 GB SSD (I will prefer SSD but will also consider normal Disk from reputable providers)
100 GB BW
1 IPv4
Budget = I don't have any number in mind .. I guess it should be doable in $30-$40 yearly. (no??) I need better connectivity first, price comes 2nd.
Also, if possible, I will like to test for a month and then go fo yearly payment. (I can pay for testing month as well)
Thanks

I would recommend VPS in Netherlands from either RamNode or HostHatch:
http://www.ramnode.com/vps.php
https://hosthatch.com/kvm-ssd-vps
+1 for RamNode
RamNode is no doubt an amazing provider. They are in my List as well.
(But their 512M plan will go about $75/year which is a bit too much for my needs)
I have used HostHatch and my experience with them is not that good. But it was long long ago. Things may have changed.
Why not OpenVZ o.O
DigitalOcean have smallest plan at 5$ a month & they are one of the most reliable hosts of low end market.
Other providers(non OVH/Hetzner) in EU within your budget would be a gamble as IP costs there are higher as compared to US.
@Umair Have a look at our latest KVM offer in Germany: http://lowendtalk.com/discussion/42627/1gb-vps-19-99-year-2gb-4-month-kvm-ssd-specials-25-year-us-eu-raid-10-1-gbit#latest I would be able to upgrade from 256 MB to 512 MB for $5 extra to fit your budget ( total $30/year ).
@harisp
Deal? ;D
Its announced as yearly so you know it would not pass by manual check . Thanks for the heads up though I will get that fixed now.
Well, okay you have a point there. As I said in OP price comes 2nd. I have edited the post and upped the price. Just looking for a better deal than $5/m. (I am using DO currently)
Sending you a PM
Take a look at vStoike (Saint Petersburg, Russia) They offer good annual pricing for KVM HDD plans http://lowendbox.com/blog/vstoike-ru-29-20year-256mb-and-38-10year-512mb-kvm-in-russia/ 3-day trial is available via ticket. @jamaica
I can also suggest http://lowendtalk.com/discussion/20122/ultravps-xen-pv-based-virtual-servers-starting-from-2-m (brand of Bradler & Krantz), they offer Xen HDD plans from €2/month, so you can get 512MB plan for $22/year (excluding 19% VAT).
@bersy
Thanks
I just checked. My ping to vStoike IP is around 270ms ... (So No, I am looking for ~~200ms)
And my ping to UltraVPS in Germany is around 290ms. (which is way odd. My usual ping to Germany IP is 200-210ms)
So sorry, both wont work for me.
Check http://lg-milano.prometeus.net Xen SSD 256MB for $30/y http://my.iperweb.com/cart/xen-ssd-plans/.
http://lg.colorhost.de/ Global Switch Datacenter http://lowendtalk.com/discussion/40197/colorhost-de-kvm-and-openvz-vps-high-quality-from-germany-with-up-to-20-discount
Dusseldorf IP: 89.163.183.129 http://lowendtalk.com/discussion/42807/hostinginside-us-uk-germany-xen-pv-256mb-3-36-month-or-28-22-year
Well then only other decent option closer to your budget that I can think of is http://www.first-root.com/vps/
Since you are not from EU, you will get 19% off(VAT will not be charged)
Just like with other German companies, you have to notify them not later than 14 days before end of contract to cancel your service. Go through their other terms & conditions carefully before signing up with them. Also keep in mind that I have no personal experience of using their services but some of friends have been using them for more than an year & they all vouch for them.
I usually get 190 to 205 ping to their IPs from home, using PTCL:
Is it Pakistan?
They use OpenVZ.
yes
Edit: nvm not KVM/Xen
It's OpenVZ and overkill on top of that.

OP wants something in EU where he could get a better ping so was your spamming with a US based offer necessary?
I wouldn't suggest UltraVPS. Not after using it. Though uptime seems ok, I had a lot of connection related emails from NodeQuery with them that I just stopped using it. It's idling for months now. Too bad I paid for 6 months ^^ @ultravps
I have used both RamNode & First-Root and I can safely say they are both good in their own ways.
Would really appreciate if you could send me an email (abdullah@) with more details about this, I would like to look into the problems you faced and make sure you are compensated. Thanks!
We would like to solve that issue. Can you please open a ticket with further information. Thank you very much.
Would you please send us a mail with an MTR. We like to check if we can improve the routing configuration. Thank you.
