Hi,

We just release sentora 1.0 panel.

http://forums.sentora.org/showthread.php?tid=953

It's mainly built on zpanel, rebranded and got some fixes.

Now supporting centos 6/7 and Ubuntu 12/14 so you could support php 5.3/5.4/5.5 (depend on OS you choose). We improved the installer and did some tweaks.

New installer script will be:

http://sentora.org/install

All feedback is welcome & I'm aware there is a lot of features we need to add.

I will be happy to anwser any questions here too.

  • Is this legit? Can everyone copy the zpanel code and rebrand it?

  • What security fixes have been applied to prevent the installs from being as vulnerable as zPanel?

Zpanel is Gpl so any one can do that, the brand is protected I think.

The team behind sentora is the same behind zpanel.

@wych what vulnerabilities you are you talking about? Zpanel had all the flaws reported fixed. The team did already some security tweaks and we plan to add further more.

I had more than once called here for vulnerability report and no one had reported any. This don't mean't we might not have a flaw. Any software will have. So we are commited to review the code and all issues being reported and the project is Open Source/ Free and everybody is welcome to participate.

I thought this had been abandoned or something?

The team left zpanel after disagreement with the owner Hostwinds. We never abandonned the project and are even preparing an update script from zpanel to sentora.

We had been working since month's on this release as we merged our installer & did more indepth testing that ever.

  • @alexh 2 years ago? Ok how many security fixes since then in ZPANEL!

Zpanel got security issues in 10.0.2 & 10.1.0. Last release 10.1.1 that patched all the reported security issues & those in 10.1.0 were due to flaws in roundcube & libchart that got since updated.

I will be happy if you had more issues to raise here & I'm using it live in my servers and won't allow any flaw going unpatched!

I know that this forum have some people that don't like zpanel. Not an issue I'm an open mind & all security reports are welcome even from @joepie91

It's not just about this forum. Some providers I have in mind and have been with forbid zPanel for the giant security messhole that it is. The open-source community, including @joepie91, has reported flaws that have been blatantly ignored by the zPanel dev team. I can't see how that is going to change in the near future considering a part of the same team is now working on Sentora.

I'm not looking to start an argument because there is none to be had over this situation, because it's been around for years (literally).

Keep in mind you could say the same about kloxo, but kloxo-mr is a solid project. I don't know much about this project, but I wouldn't judge them without digging in a bit first.

  • Glad to see the project is still alive :)

  • Could you please include a demo or screenshots on your website. I probably won't bother trying to test this if those don't exist.

  • Already try it and so far I like it, you should provide file manager similar to Ajaxplorer.

  • btw where's zpanel forum?

Zpanel forum was shutdown by it's owner... We are sorry for that but we never wanted seeing zpanel forum shut down.

We didn't try to include any file browser as we focus first on core feature that still require some work. Also I have very big concern over security for ajaxplorer ( we had a module from third party) & how it could be an issue.

A user had already made a new module with monstaFTP:
    http://forums.sentora.org/showthread.php?tid=935

You can also install monstaFTP on a subdomain & offer it for customers.

    Command for installing sentora:

CentOS 6/7 ( including wget install)

cd /tmp && yum install wget && wget http://sentora.org/install && sudo bash install

Ubuntu 12/14 ( including wget install)

    cd /tmp && apt-get install wget && wget http://sentora.org/install && sudo bash install

If you alread have wget you can use:

wget http://sentora.org/install && sudo bash install

That's easy & then follow installer instructions.
