Just wondering, why xenvz become less popular here?
Pros:

  • very stable
  • good uptime
  • fast CPU
  • big RAM

Cons:

  • very slow support
  • small disk
  • small data transfer/bandwidth.

Their main point against its "PRICE", they are more expensive than a normal LEB provider, for example:

    Bronze plan:

    • 128 MB RAM
    • 128 MB Burst/swap
    • 5gb
    • 250 gb transfer
    • $ 7.90 USD per month

The only way to get a cheap price with them is buy using one of their not so often promos.

Their Maidenhead location is really stable but you can probably get a higher resource, higher performing UK vps elsewhere for the same or just a little bit more than you would pay for one of their specials.

I think it is common here to use LEB price?

Have some recommendation for Xen, 256MB, min 10GB?
Not necessary in UK, any europe/westcoast location will be fine
Most reputable providers here use KVM : buyvm, hostigation, edist, prometeus.
    I don't need KVM, i already have.

httpzoom.com and bhost.net both offer cheaper options at the RapidSwitch Maidenhead datacenter.

    Their LowEndXen 2012
    128MB RAM
    2.5GB Space
    40GB BW
Only £1.30/m with cheap additional resources price.

    My latest box with them:

    CPU model: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5420 @ 2.50GHz
    Number of cores: 2
    CPU frequency: 2493.748 MHz
Total amount of ram: 128 MB
Total amount of swap: 127 MB
    Download speed: (11.1MB/s)
    I/O speed: 123MB/s

Service they offer is still solid as a rock however:

    • it's not that easy to get in touch with Sean sometimes.. not as before

    • when they started new location (newcastle) Sean said that IPv6 will be available in next few weeks in NC and other location will follow soon. Now, year or so later... still no IPv6 available anywhere. I know for case when someone ordered their VPS because false promise that IPv6 will be available in next few days/weeks.

I often recommended XenVZ around however I am not doing this anymore. Not because quality of their hosting service would decrease, they are still good old stable XenVZ but because it's too hard to get a hold of Sean sometimes when is needed (which in my case isn't often).

    CONS (also)

    • support system sucks
    • older templates (still no 12.04 LTS in the control panel)
    • custom and hard to understand control panel

I've always found XenVZ rock solid personally, although can't comment on support as I've never needed any.

Also a +1 for HTTPZoom, got a couple of services with them and they've proved just as good, although I have some weird problems with tinyproxy memory leakage on their Xen package.

That is not true, Prometeus has Xen too. I had a package I gave up last week because it is going too hard to keep track of all these lebs...
