PSN + Xbox Live Outages
I'm not an avid console gamer -- I've always preferred the PC -- but a few days ago I decided to get a PS4. A couple of the guys at the CC office have PS4 and I thought it would be fun to play Madden/NHL with them over PSN. Much to my annoyance, and I'm sure many other millions of PS4/XBox owners the online systems have been down for somewhere between 36 and 48 hours now due to DDOS attacks.
There have been reports that Xbox Live is coming back online for some users, finally...
Unfortunately for me, and many other PS3/4 owners we haven't been so lucky.
Talk about a bad month for Sony. I wonder what the nature and size of the attacks were that brought down both systems?
Comments
Perhaps both companies should invest in DDOS Mitigation systems
Also wasn't the interview available on Xbox?
From what I have read on twitter (all be it from some not so reliable sources) PSN is up on PSVita and PSP and some PS3 and PS4 users are able to connect. But its a bit hit and miss from what I understand...
I've no issues on PSP.
Sony are carrying in all the cash right now they've earned with the Christmas Day release of The Interview. This downtime is just some more air time for them, I'm sure. The minor downtime of the PSN, annoying as it may have been, is probably of secondary concern for them :-)
Sony spent their money fixing their pictures network
I bet North Korea with it's total of 10 Gbps bandwidth is behind the attack.
Xbox 360 works fine zero downtime
Kim dotcom brings it back up? That's just funny.

Sounds like Sony could do with some of that CC magic.
Perhaps Sony shouldn't have stolen code from open source projects and tried to hack 22 million people's PCs and then I might feel sorry for them.
Why does the HDD have a paper that says "SAD Support ticket"
Is that hard drive sad
It's believed by many security experts the Sony 'hack' was an inside job for publicity. It's wasn't anything to do with North Korea apparently.
Since we are going off topic:
I guess it's BAD, as in faulty
Sony and MS need to sign up for RamNode!
Seems psn is still down amazingly...
