You can, but why? And you put your VPS at risk, impacting other customers on that node.
What's the risk?
Why XP is EoL?
http://www.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/enterprise/end-of-support.aspx
yeah but i love XP
But its a security issue as it no longer gets security and maintenance updates...
Sometimes, a love has to come to an end. Stop using XP. You are a threat to others otherwise.
@gihan if you like it so much why not make 7/8 look like XP?
XP? DOS is where it's at!
Since you all ignored the OP's question i will answer.
@gihan
Yes it will work but you need to add virtio drivers to your install, you can use something like nLite http://www.nliteos.com/ get virtio drivers here http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/virtio-win/latest/images/
You could, but I don't see why. As others have already said, XP has already reached it's 'end of life' thus it's no longer supported. It has unfixed security bugs, etc.
Using Windows XP on VULTR is as simple as logging in -> My ISOs -> Upload.
You could build a nice Honey Pot for Chinese Hackers...
Install some monitoring tools and you know what exploits they are trying to use...
ඔන්න එහෙනම් මන් වැඩේ අතෑරියා so i have giveup the idea about using xp on vultr as it will put the others also in a risk
i seriously doubt you will put people at risk. windows xp is reasonably safe. its the same as any other make sure things are secure.
Really when has any version of windows been secure?
Despite what people would like you believe, the world is not going to explode if you run Windows XP. Just lock it down properly and be aware of what you are doing.
Even windows NT was certified as secure, as long as it is not connected to any network.
I'm not saying it would but I wouldn't run it nowadays.
True, pretty sure NatWest still use it in branch
Install a supported XP version like Embedded? http://www.microsoft.com/windowsembedded/en-us/product-lifecycles.aspx
It didn't work when I tried it. Windows 7 works with Virtio drivers, but XP doesn't (tried with nLite)
"...because I have a pirated key and it's the last version of Windows that doesn't require software activation."
I have a bunch of XP CoA, so if anybody still requires a valid XP... :-)
Just a wondering what will you do after installing XP on vultr ?
jingling ?
That ain't even profitable.
