Why will you be hijacked ??

  • For your budget you could get an ipv6-only (with NAT ipv4) box. Not very suitable for a public DNS server.

  • I was apologizing if I hijacked your thread :)

    yes very much.

    $9.99/year 512MB RAM, 5.0GB SSD, 500GB Bandwidth on GigE.

  • Maybe @AutoSnipe has something that might suit your needs.

  • Apexy offers 192MB Ram for $10 per year in germany or czech republic.

192 MB works without any issue for DNSonly ??

  • I used to run 128MB for ~100 zones, worked fine but now I use 256MB just to be safe.

Perhaps try WLS? Yes they have performance issues sometimes but shouldn't affect DNS-Only that much. $8/year in UK is golden.

  • I would suggest researching that they do what you need before buying, as there have been many threads around here lately screaming about a ticket here and there not being replied, I am not sure myself on the legitimacy of the complaints; but buyer beware.

@Mahfuz_SS_EHL updates may be an issue on <256mb RAM.

It makes problem with 5 GB Space :/

Why? Pretty sure my DNSOnly cluster each had 1.5gb SSD and ran fine using minimal CentOS.

Personally I never had issues with support or response time. My last ticket was resolved in 30 minutes.

Funny because in my experience, 5GB disk is insufficient for updates.

  • I have two VPS's with WLS. One in Orlando DC is mainly for DNS. Can't complain as its had 100% uptime and works fine. Server in London I wanted IPV6 and thats where I had problems. First node had no IPV6 available so got moved to another node that had it. Although I got allocated the IPV6 addresses, they weren't contactable (didn't respond to pings). Ticket raised on 9th November and still hasn't been replied to at this time. So it seems if you don't need to raise a ticket or have a simple problem, you'll be fine but anything technical and they don't seem to respond.

Recent cPanel updates look for min 3Gb free space or it will fail

    So that's why...

Guess I was just lucky... I did start at 1.5GB then expanded to around 5 GB as I had some spare space.

I didn't have any issues either, just was warning that WLS was recently mentioned in a thread here.

    Did you asked their support?

  • @Mahfuz_SS_EHL maybe GeoIP databases have not updated. They could be using ARIN IP in EU.

More than 100 zones and you might run into issues with 5gb, they take up a lot of space for some reason!

I have well over 100 zones but to be honest I started off with the small disk and then expanded it, that's probably why I didn't notice it.
