Soon the whole 1st page of LET will be filled with "auctions" for crappy domains.
Those who don't know, Namecheap had a $0.98/year com/net/org sale recently, so there's a lot of stupid domains people registered and now don't know what to do with.

  • Perhaps segregate domain auctions to their own category and make use of this plugin?

Did you read domain aution rule? Well, I bid you didn't read it, because domain for aution have to transferable, so tell me, how could you transfer domain bought from recent Namecheap promotional? :D

I'm not sure if the rules have already been activated or not. Anyway there are already topics on this:

Also age of domain could be a factor. Like @rm said, people register relatively dumb domains with some special offer for dollar or two and 2 - 3 months later try to sale them. Unserious.
I suggesting atleast one renewal (1 years old domain) before could be listed here on sale. One year isn't much but it would eliminate some dumb just registered domain sales.

+1, getting tired of seeing these auctions... Wish there was a way to block that category only...

  • I beg to differ though. I am actually looking forward to buy domain on Let. Maybe we can have a separate category so it won't show up on the front page?

+1,domains should be included in LOW END series.
Maybe someone can build a site called LowEndAuction xD.

Why not add a rule that selling of any "regular" domain isn't allowed?

@Intcs what are "regular" domains? :)

What I mean with one+ year old domain factor is that it would partially eliminate buying cheap domains strictly to sell them 2 months later here. I am not annoyed with some domain offer here and there however seeing new key-word domains registered strictly for selling them here short after registration doesn't look forum friendly. Things are usually different when someone sell a bit older (renewed already) domains.

Then you are a stupid person and are looking in a wrong place.

Sure, post away domain registration deals like the recent $0.98 one, post and review cheap but quality registrars, post ways to cheaply register domains in exotic TLDs.

Exactly. WTF auctions of dumb contrived domain names that were lying around for years unregistered and unneeded by anyone, until some squatter came around and got an idea to try use our forum to make a quick buck, have to do with LET? What's completely beyond my understanding, is that there are people actually bidding in those auctions.

Legitimate question for you: is the recent increase in domain auction threads preventing you from using the forum in any way? Threads already stay on page 1 far longer than any active community that I've ever been a frequent visitor of. I'm not sure I understand how this is a problem.

The best place to sell is flippa, much bigger audience and that's what the sites for

the prices on flippa are also pretty high

i think we should keep domain offers here. however, there definitely needs to be an official discussion on restrictions.

I propose something like the hosting offer rules, but a little more strict, such as official verification that the domain is transferred to the buyer.
