  • flyfly Member

  • @djvdorp said: What is the difference between regular KVM Micro, except no Icelandic location?

@kbar said: this only works for micro?

Irresistible offer, I have to get one this time. xD Do you allow transfer between locations?

  • is there a way to avoid paying VAT?

  • @fan said: Irresistible offer, I have to get one this time. xD Do you allow transfer between locations?

    Not with this offer.

@joshuatly said: is there a way to avoid paying VAT?

    Yes, live outside the EU...

How is it compared to OpenVZ or KVM? What are the pros and what are the cons?

    Thanks.

  • Is it possible to run OpenVPN TUN/TAP on vserver? I guess a switzerland VPS as a private proxy/VPN would be pretty nice.

  • fanfan Veteran

    Not with this offer.

Pity but fine, just placed an order in Chicago. Also I saw HK in the location list when ordering, the price is reasonable, do you have a test IP now?

  • @dantes said: How is it compared to OpenVZ or KVM? What are the pros and what are the cons?

    Thanks.

Resources seem to be like OpenVZ as memory usage etc

  • 1GB hard drive is a bit small....

  • @fan said: Pity but fine, just placed an order in Chicago. Also I saw HK in the location list when ordering, the price is reasonable, do you have a test IP now?

HK is not offered in this special.
    TestIP 158.255.208.1

@gsrdgrdghd said: Is it possible to run OpenVPN TUN/TAP on vserver?

    No.

@dantes said: How is it compared to OpenVZ or KVM? What are the pros and what are the cons?

It is pretty much like OpenVZ but has no IPtables and no VPN support.

@zhuanyi said: 1GB hard drive is a bit small....

    2,5" drives are expensive :(

  • fanfan Veteran

@William said: HK is not offered in this special.

Will get a 512mb box, the network is fine to my ISP.

  • @William said: 2,5" drives are expensive :(

    Just curious, why 2.5"?

And how much would it cost if I buy another 1.5GB?

  • @William said: 2,5" drives are expensive :(

and the 1GB includes the OS or is on top of OS?

  • earlearl Member

@zhuanyi said: Just curious, why 2.5"?

Because SAS drives are 2.5" same drive as your dedi at Datashack

  • @zhuanyi said: Just curious, why 2.5"?

HP does not offer 3,5" servers with 1U and 8 HDDs. (In fact, no one does due to space).

@zhuanyi said: and the 1GB includes the OS or is on top of OS?

    Including OS

  • @earl said: Because SAS drives are 2.5" same drive as your dedi at Datashack

I see.....noob question time: is SAS better than SATA? If so in what sense?

  • earlearl Member

@zhuanyi said: is SAS better than SATA

    Yup.. it's Serial Attached SCSI

  • @zhuanyi said: I see.....noob question time: is SAS better than SATA? If so in what sense?

6Gbit instead of 3 - Writing and reading at the same time (SATA can only do once) - Port bonding up to 4x

We have a quick comparison here ...

On the ordering page it shows Iceland KVM as avaible. Have you changed your policy regarding that location or is that just due to some technical limitation and i can't actually use the promo code for Iceland?

  • WilliamWilliam Member
    edited July 2012

Iceland has higher costs for us, so this Promotion is not available there.
It is only in the order page as i am too lazy to create a new product.
Same with HK and UK - If someone selects one of these we deliver it simply as Graz, Austria.

  • @William said: Including OS

so about 400MB left to install other stuff...

  • And how much would it cost if I buy another 1.5GB?

  • LAKidLAKid Member

@William what os can you install on 1G HD?
