Compiling kernel on OpenVZ node

Can I compile a kernel on my own on a VPS running under OpenVZ?
On one VPS I have 2.6.32-042stab092.3 running under Debian 7.
When I look at the OpenVZ-Wiki, there are newer version of the kernel (http://openvz.org/Download/kernel/) sources ready to download.
Can I just download them and follow the building instructions (http://wiki.openvz.org/Kernel_build)?
I never ever have build a kernel on my own, so maybe my question is a little bit stupid..

On OpenVZ, the kernel is shared by everyone on the host node. You can't run a custom kernel in your container. If you want a newer kernel version, you need to talk to your host.
Okay, thanks for pointing that out to me.
