Singapore to CC Los Angeles routing

I've got a buddy in Singapore and he's got crazy high ping times to a ColoCrossing server I have in LA. Performing a traceroute shows that it takes a stupid land route around Europe rather than directly across the Pacific ocean... perhaps this can be resolved?

Welcome to LowEndHelpDesk. Have you filed a ticket with ColoCrossing or the shell company you're buying from yet?
Great customer support 0xdragon!

I did actually... Awaiting a response but I thought the "community" could chime in. Turns out it's a great idea!
It seems like stupid routing by he.net. It goes from Singapore to France to USA.
Hardly ColoCrossing's fault.
Your friend should complain to his ISP in Singapore, and they should kick he.net about this.
Haha, sounds like a plan! Thanks for actually answering the question! I'll be sure to explain this to him.
To the Anti-ColoCrossing users (before more junk about it pops up here):
This just so happens to be a ColoCrossing server, I have plenty of other servers with other non-CC providers... calm yourselves :P
which provider your friend with?
You should look at Psychz for any of your hosting needs in Los Angeles.
Cannot wait for them to Launch in Dallas

Yeah, HE.net routing is crazy at the moment, just pinged there Singapore router, getting 245+ in ping. It's routing through the Atlantic ocean.
Isn't he.net always crazy? I regularly see routes taking HE LON > HE AMS > HE LON.
From where, how much did you expect instead, and how should it have routed for you?
HE.net only quite recently added their own link between Paris and Singapore, earlier they would simply route everything (including EU<>SG) via the US. So a couple misconfigurations here and there may happen. The Earth is round, and between two very far away points it's not trivial to determine which way to send (East or West), if you have both options.
It could be HE's direct route between US/Asia is saturated so their network takes a detour.

HE in SG has direct connect to FR. But need to stop at HK or JP before reaching US. I don't think HE's HK or JP path is large enough.
Singapore to Los Angeles; getting 234ms.
It would be better to route through the Pacific, however, honestly, I don't care where it goes, as long as it gets there.
EDIT: http://lg.he.net/
You should report to HE instead of making complaint to colo crossing. Network provider unable to control the incoming traffic.
They are unlikely to do anything if you are not a direct customer.
Your ping are not high they are normal for your distance to Usa for LA. Via pacific route is be little shorter
This is no doubt traffic shaping by your ISP/HE. Their route over the Pacific is probably saturated.
