Taking bids/Looking for someplace to move to

Greetings. My partner and I have had a dedicated server for several years now, and are looking to upgrade. I am either looking for bids or references that may be worth looking into. We are not interested in a start-up host (someone who's been around for less than 2 years), as stability is very important to us.

We are looking for a server with the following minimum specs:

  • 2x Quad Core processors (minimum Intel L5520)
  • 24GB RAM
  • 2x 1TB HDDs (or 3 or 4x 500GB HDDs)
  • 20TB bandwidth (or unmetered) @ 100Mbps
  • /28 IPv4 allotment
  • /64 IPv6 allotment
  • CentOS (6.x or 7.x) 64-bit

We are also interested in the following options if you are a reseller:

  • WHM/cPanel
  • WHMCS

We are looking for an all inclusive bid for the minimum specs portion, and the add-on price for the optional software. Feel free to send me a private message with bids or for any further details.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you can't resell WHMCS anymore

WHMCS Internal Licenses are still available.

@MarkTurner @NetGeezers - If this offer is still valid, it seems like a decent deal.

Delimiter's network sucks and Quickpacket seems to have ethical issues. Take your pick out of these lovely hosts!

  • VersaWeb might be worth a shot. They've been around for ages and used them myself back in early 2008. Rob's awesome.

    What's wrong with Delimiter's network?

He's asking about a very reliable provider and you guys keep suggesting two budget ISPs.

@NetGeezers where in the world you do want your server?

How about OVH then? Simple as that

  • @0xdragon - there is nothing wrong with Delimiter's network. He's probably someone on Comcast and caught up in all the nonsense that was going on with them at the time.

    What is your budget?

If your budget is not under $50 then I can suggest you a good providers.

I agree. Network, support, and pricing are all exceptional with Delimiter. They're also a company you can trust to be around for a while, and not commit questionable business practices.

I wouldn't consider @QPS a total budget provider, there network has greatly improved over the last 6 months, and most my routes are over level3.

Not all budget providers are "bad" - I recommend www.datashack.net they are solid & professional, ontop of that they are always offering good deals.

    @AlexanderM - QPS isn't connected to Level3:

    199.101.96.0/21 *[BGP/170] 1w2d 00:08:16, MED 1, localpref 100

    AS path: 174 46261 ?

    to x.x.x.x via xe-3/0/1.0

    [BGP/170] 2d 18:59:58, MED 2, localpref 100

    AS path: 2828 3356 19151 46261 I

    to x.x.x.x via xe-5/0/0.0

    [BGP/170] 3d 08:14:47, MED 0, localpref 75

    AS path: 3356 19151 46261 I

    to x.x.x.x via xe-1/0/0.0

As you can see Cogent is direct and WVFiber is direct. The path going via AS3356 is a transit route via WVFiber

This is also evidenced by your looking glass:

traceroute to www.level3.com (4.27.19.126), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets

    1 162.245.216.2 (162.245.216.2) 0.044 ms 0.016 ms 0.014 ms

    2 ge2-4.br1.atl1.quickpacket.com (199.101.98.89) 0.240 ms 0.283 ms 0.371 ms

    3 te0-18-0-18.ccr41.atl01.atlas.cogentco.com (38.88.10.253) 0.626 ms 0.625 ms 0.615 ms

    4 be2034.ccr21.atl04.atlas.cogentco.com (154.54.6.114) 1.164 ms 1.158 ms 1.144 ms

    5 level3.atl04.atlas.cogentco.com (154.54.12.138) 0.375 ms 0.392 ms 0.379 ms

    6 * * *

    7 ae-2-2.ebr1.Washington1.Level3.net (4.69.132.86) 18.427 ms 18.625 ms 18.386 ms

    8 ae-4-4.ebr2.Newark1.Level3.net (4.69.132.102) 18.319 ms 18.352 ms 18.384 ms

    9 ae-2-52.edge3.Newark1.Level3.net (4.69.156.43) 18.694 ms 18.351 ms 18.517

Your transit provider is QPS, they send all Level3 traffic via Cogent.

  • I wouldn't recommend Delimiter either. I prefer polite support and quality over cheap stuff.

Budget providers don't need to be bad but are less reliable than premium ones.

For example, support with DataShack is slow and network only HE+Cogent IIRC.

I did read some bad things about Delimiter too, although not personally checked them.

No idea about QPS but weren't they single homed in the past? Network is still cheap transit actually.

I'm not trying to say budget providers are necessarily bad, but that kind if service wasn't what OP asked for.

No, this is incorrect for at least the past 9 years.

BBOI is mostly Level3 transit plus peering, so it's very solid. We also use some Cogent transit.
