Anyone getting a load of spam today?

I usually don't get that much, but I keep getting bombarded with spam today (MS Live account)

Had 5-6 emails that say "from: [email protected]" but the reply-to is always random domains like "famousproperty.net"

The IPs are all different but from the OVH network. I went to the OVH abuse site but it just goes to spamcop or something

I think someone new is pegging contacts on the ARIN database, as we have received a bunch of spam messages to our ARIN contacts over the past 24 hours.

I usually get one spam email a week, or 1-2 a month. I've been getting them all day every 10 minutes or so. I set up a Thunderbird filter but it still notifies me of a new email and they come through on my phone :(

People who send spam need stabbing in the face repeatedly.

  • Within the last 72 hours our incoming spam [ as measured statistically by our filter hit rate ] has increased about 200% on our * [at] goodhosting.co addresses, most of it going to fake addresses such as "cialis [at] goodhosting.co" and such.

I just finished cleaning over 2000 spam emails.

    Hah, so true.

  • Implement greylisting. Postgrey works wonders against spam. Caveat is that the initial learning period might delay some emails.

Welcome to the party. It's been building but a lot of people are finding that they are not among the first people being targeted. Spammers are adapting at an oddly rapid pace lately. Non-Bayesian filters are failing with spam passing dkim and spf checks.

Make sure to step up your filtering game, kill catch all accounts and disable your forwarders. Bring your mail to mxroute.com to let me do the heavy lifting for you, I enjoy it :)

  • Spam influx is fluctuating, today's nothing special in it. "Usual" amount, most of it is correctly identified by spam filter. However, I still have to browse junk folders in case of false positives happened.
