  • Oddest thing, I couldn't for the life of me login with a password. I had to wget my public key through the serial console to gain access. I couldn't even ssh to localhost. passwd and the control panel didn't work.

Anyone having issues with password logins on Ubuntu 14.04? I'm going to assume another issue with 14.04.

  • trexostrexos Member

Been using their panel for a year now with debian 6/7 never had this issue.

Yes, this pretty much sums it up. We do not want to raise unrealistic expectations. Consider this as buying a lottery ticket :)

Doesn't sound too good:P I thought this was only affects uptime.

Yes, this is a known issue in 14.04 template. You could also use Interactive shell to change the password.

The only thing we can promise is that we will not botch it up intentionally :D

The 13.10 template works ok though for those interested. You can then do

    sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade && sudo apt-get -y install update-manager-core && sudo do-release-upgrade

Open /etc/ssh/sshd_config and set "PermitRootLogin yes". Since 14.04 default is to allow root login with ssh keys only.

Thanks, I thought the issue was with /etc/passwd or something odd. That makes sense - 12.04 disabled root login by default as well. However, the OpenVZ templates always enabled the root account so I thought nothing of it.

    No guarantees of any kind

Does that mean it may stop running half way through the year?

  • @Ruriko It may stop tomorrow...

    Hi there, nice offer!

A small question, can I host a group mailing list for around 80 people? do you consider it a "mass mailing of any kind"?

  • @fkj will be auto-terminated.

So what is the maximum size of a mailing list which is considered not a "mass mailing of any kind"?

Edit: so how many vps sold in the 2 rounds stock?
current all the vps were in one same node? or 2 nodes?

  • dccdcc Member, Host Rep

We have added 25 more... But price is now $3.87 :D
Hope this will slow down orders a bit.

I do not see why not. As long as your end customer is aware of our TOS + of the fact that there might be downtime there should be no problem.
