Hi,

I'm looking for a dedicated server which can be used as both a seedbox and a plex server

Minimum requirements:

CPU doesn't matter

RAM: atleast 2GB

HDD: atleast 250GB

Bandwidth: 100mb unmetered

Any location, EU preffered

No online.net (really bad experience)

I didn't know we had many eunuchs here.

Yeah in the EU you're pretty much limited to Kimsufi which is the perfect choice for this really anyway.

  • Doesn't plex server transcode videos by default? In which case, CPU quality does matter.

Any dedi should be able to push out 720p or 1080p really, especially at $20 if it's just one user.

Pretty much anything you can get will be fine. I've done multiple simultaneous transcodes on an Atom N2800 and performance is fine.

  • Just got a Kimsufi with an Atom N2800 :) (4.99 euros a month yay)

€4.99 excluding VAT + setup fee.

How did you get that working? I've personally had issues with just 720p encoding with my home server running a Atom N2800. It just can't encode fast enough for my PS3.

  • With a $20 budget, if the Atom won't do just get a Kimsufi KS-3

    Core™ i3-2130 @ 3.4 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, 100 Mbps 14,99

I have the same issue with SD video to my PS3; quite frankly, I think it's the PS3 that's the issue in these things, no other device in the house seems to need to buffer everything quite so much.

I've been using a plain SubSonic install to stream vids and had no issues transcoding anything from a source file to either m4v or flv.
