Anyone know where I can pick up a cheap Plesk box? I have a job interview tomorrow and want to brush up on Plesk..

Doesn't have to be <$7 as as long as it's cheap..

Providers who offer Plesk are not often within the Lowend Category.

Or even somewhere offering a pay-by-the-hour Plesk VPS?

    You could go to:

    http://www.demowolf.com/hosting-tutorials.php

and watch their Plesk demos for free. Not sure if they have any on the admin side of things, though.

It's more the file structure etc. I want to look at. They have me all afternoon and I have a feeling they're going to put me to the test with a Plesk server.

1&1 is the cheapest I can think of off the top of my head.

Alvotech have a Confixx template with their vServers.
Not exactly Plesk, but closely related.

You could get a 15 day trial licence and throw it in a virtual machine?

Ah thanks, didn't realise they did trials. Now I just need a cheap VPS for a day...

@jtodd Give me a minute and I'll message you with one you can use.

Why not just a virtual machine on your desktop? o0

I thought Plesk was free for a single site installation...

It used to be, I think they removed that for v 10 though.

    People still choose Plesk?

Yeah, I already queried it and they said cPanel has too many ways for inexperienced users to break things, which makes sense I guess.

On a separate note, Plesk 11 looks nice - it has a new look and built in nginx caching.

Would you like a manchester VPS for the day, James. :-)

Bit late now but thanks for the offer!

I'm up and running on one of @jarland's servers.

Nice to see people giving out free servers though! ;)

You can have Plesk license for free upto 30 days so every box will work fine for you.

I avoid Parallels like the plague. I tried really hard to give them my money, I mean I called multiple times a day, sent e-mails, even randomly called extensions in their directory. They would not let me buy anything unless I purchased through my rep who never answered his phone. I even talked to the person sitting next to him and he said he was there, I called my rep not 15 seconds later and still got his voicemail. I ended up cancelling my account with them and they sent me to collections because they said I needed to pay for my last month used and the month after I cancelled. They billed me for 3 months when I only had licenses for 2 months and I only cancelled because I couldn't buy more licenses. A year later my rep called me back to see if I was looking to purchase more licenses and I hung up on him.

    Thanked by 1jh

Sounds like Computer Associates should buy them.

Plesk is fine as long as you don't have to walk users through the UI.
