  • Well, there's scnet/internap/eqx in Japan. Most of the internationally operating DCs are in here too.

Your best bet is likely those if English speaking staff as well as 'handling' in English is needed, lol.

What about something in Middle East like Iran?

You could check sinet.ir , they route through russia (rostelecom.ru) :D

  • We are not alllowed to deal with Iran since there is an embargo from both the EU and Austria.

  • OliverOliver Member, Host Rep

If you become as big as OMV and Raiffeisen then you can deal with Iran. ;-)

  • Not even then, they are only able to do it because there is an exception for now for existing deals

  • OliverOliver Member, Host Rep

Oh, OK. Need to get in quicker, hehe ;)

You can thank evil america for that..

Hardly. Its actually the UK's fault, but your never hear our government admit it.

Come on it aint, we all know the UK is basically a puppet governemnt when it comes to america. Look at the extradition's for example Secondly look at the assange extradition \and 3rdly when the US goes to war the UK follows (Or is it there oil companies?) and the UK and US is always last to come out.

How about somewhere like denmark? I seem to remember when i had a delimiter vps they where well connected. and could get 60+Mbps to UK

  • @liam said: That would of been a kick ass location...

Why russia so much? You plan on a pro-putin site?

  • OliverOliver Member, Host Rep

Am also interested in why many are so interested in something hosted in Russia... Can someone clarify?

    Thanked by 1djvdorp
  • rds100rds100 Member

@Oliver probably because Russia doesn't need to care about USA and EU laws, so they could host more controversial content in Russia.

  • @liam said: Anyway to try Russia again?

    Nearly impossible.

  • @DanielM said: How about somewhere like denmark? I seem to remember when i had a delimiter vps they where well connected. and could get 60+Mbps to UK

Enough Scandinavia already at EDIS ;)

  • OliverOliver Member, Host Rep

@rds100 perhaps, but if there's anything controversial that the Russians do not like then you're just as likely to go offline as anywhere else.

So basically it's because people want to host something that isn't allowed in the USA or EU, but definitely won't bother the Russians. :P

@Oliver can you spell WAREZ? :)

Hehe, now if only there were good providers in China... :p

  • rds100rds100 Member

China is hard, you need a license from the government to have any website in China.

You could try Liechtenstein, I couldn't find any provider that offers vpses, I only found http://www.adon.li/ that offers shared hosting and http://newsnet.li/internet/index.html that offers shared/dedis, you could check http://www.supra.net/Business/Housing/tabid/61/Default.aspx
I know that Liechtenstein is near Austria where you have your "main" datacenter but you would be the first vps host in Liechtenstein.
Following little/"rare" countries there are: Andorra, Moldova, Isle of Man, Gibiltar, Malta, Cyprus.
For middle east Turkey or Kazakhstan http://www.idhost.kz/en/.
Africa: Egypt - http://citynethost.com/ , South Africa, Zimbabwe
Another nice location would be Bahamas, the only host there is securehost and they have expensive prices, Bahamas has good connectivity.
(there is even Jamaica, I would love to get a vps there :) , http://www.flowjamaica.com )
Porto Rico: http://caribe.net/ , or Panama.

    Thanked by 1spavps
  • jaakkajaakka Member

@William, actually we would do that, as you are also a RIPE member.
If you give me exact specifications ill draft you a quote.

  • I didnt even know the country Liechtenstein existed hahaha

  • @MuZo said: could try Liechtenstein, I couldn't find any provider that offers vpses

We have quotes from all ISPs in LI - 1000EUR+ / mo for 10Mbit.....

    Andorra: State owned, impossible
Moldova: Impossible to get hardware in, politically not stable
Isle of Man: No ISP that wants us
    Gibraltar: too expensive
    Malta: even more expensive
Cyprus: even more expensive than expensive
    Turkey: maybe planned
Kazahkstan: Import ban on HP servers
Egypt: Politically not stable, bad BW
    South Africa: too expensive
    Zimbabwe: you are kidding, right?
Bahamas: 3760$ / Mbit at C&W (Yes, this are USD.)
    Jamaica: Same as Bahamas
    Puerto Rico: USA.
    Panama: maybe planned

  • @William said: Isle of Man: No ISP that wants us

    Have you contacted netcetera?

  • @William said: Kazahkstan: Import ban on HP servers

    Wow, really? Why :P

  • What about the Falklands?

  • @MrLadoodle said: What about the Falklands?

    @William

Thank you for complete reply :)

    Zimbabwe: you are kidding, right?

    yeah :P

I forgot Monaco, Faroe Island, San Marino, Sealand (and Vatican City but it's impossibole to host there)
Monaco: I think it's expensive and near Italy / France where you already have services.
Faroe Island: you already have service in Iceland
San Marino: it's a litte bit down from milan (where cdlan is located)
    Sealand: no more connected

I just found in http://www.e-commercepark.com in Netherlands Antilles, but I don't find any advantage on that location.

I think you need to search for something in africa or near africa, beucase you don't cover that continent.

If you can't get Moscow you could check Ukraine, for Russia I suggest to get a location on east, like novosibirsk that is over Kazahkstan.
