2013 Q4 - Top Provider Poll

edited January 2014 in General

It's time for yet another provider poll, this time for quarter 4 of 2013!

From now on, we're going to do things a bit differently from previous polls. When voting in previous polls, the number 1 would get 3 points, the number 2 would get 2 points, and the number 3 would get 1 point. That's a total of 6 points per vote, set by the order in which you voted. For some people, this was not an ideal system, because: who's your number 1, 2, and 3? Many people just picked one host, leaving "3 votes" unused.

I am going to let you divide those points from now on with a system called 'Dot Voting'. Those doing agile development may have heard of the term. So, from now on you get 5 votes to divide. It's completely up to you how you do that. You may give 5 providers 1 vote, 1 provider 5 votes, or distribute them.

ALWAYS note the number of votes you give. Except when you pick just one provider: I will default to five votes in that scenario. Otherwise: no number of votes listed means nothing will be counted! You are not obliged to use all your votes, but I recommend you do :-)

Providers can't vote for own company.

Please note suspicious entrants may be removed. Voters should have been registered prior to the creation of this thread.

Enjoy guys!

The deadline for voting is Sunday, January 12 at midnight UTC!

Ramnode - 1: Have 2 box there. Great uptime and IO speeds and haven't have the need to open any tickets yet

Iniz - 1: Never have any issues here as well, great uptime and io, and top-notch service for very affordable prices

Buyvm - 1: Had some issues with their LV1 backup box but and got moved to a different node, no issues whatsoever afterwhich.

Tacticalvps - 1: Tried their ovz and kvm, both has given me top-notch service, although io speeds not as good as RamNode.

Backupsy - 1: Large backup space at unbelievable price, top-notch service and uptime, need i say more?

    One vote each.

    • End of Reality: have had a 2 GB OpenVZ in Dallas for quite a while, it's been very stable and has decent CPU / disk speed. Their locations in LA/Chicago haven't been as stable though.
    • RamNode: all of their locations have great uptime and fast servers. I like Seattle location best for it's network, Atlanta is getting better though (Netherlands is decent).
    • Prometeus/iwStack: stable, just don't like the high ping from most places
    • Torqhost: I like the Estonia location, they have some nice plans too
    • FtpIt: best provider in Buffalo I've used

    Honorable mention

    • Backupsy: cheap backup VM
    • QuickPacket: pretty reliable and very cheap dedicated servers in Atlanta (nice bandwidth too)
    • EDIS: no one else has as diverse a set of locations; also high bandwidth on the larger plans
    • Cloudive: another reliable northeast U.S. provider
    • 2Host: got their 1gbps unmetered, I think in San Jose; works out to 10 TB bandwidth

Solid DDoS protection, have 20IPs being filtered with them, Almost reaching 5TB of B/W per month, growing continuously. It's the only VPS provider I have used for DDoS protection with such success, not to mention affordable! All this costs less than $100 / month.
