It's all good. The news topic isn't really apparent that it has the deal too.

  • It's a great offer but I'd like to see a bi-annual option.

It's 6 months accounting period which is bi-annual

and that Unlimited (20TB) Traffic can't be beat,
if they listed the cost of extra BW i may get the 2x version
    https://php-friends.de/vserver-ssd/vserver-winterspecial-2021-ssd-maxi

but it don't say if BW is still 20TB or 40TB

    Where does it say 20TB?

  • @BarkingIron said: Where does it say 20TB?

    traffic for free
    https://php-friends.de/vserver-ssd/traffic
vServer winter special 2021 SSD 20 TB / month

You can fully utilize your dedicated 1 GBit / s network card up to this value. If the value is exceeded, we reserve the right to reduce the bandwidth of your server to 10 Mbit / s.

  • saying it's free BW is a little misleading

  • Does anyone know what the likely multi-core GB5 is going to look like?

The problem with these (and most VPS services that don't include a control panel) is what do you use as a control panel. I mean you're getting such raw power, but then you either need to pay a lot more than its value for a decent paid control panel, or end up with a buggy free control panel. This is always my dilemma.

    They use SolusVM

I mean a Control panel i.e. Cpanel, Plesk, cyberpanel...etc... not a simple master interface. One that can have apps like softaculous (as an example) running with full domain setup and management. One of my favorites is DirectAdmin

that's called a hosting panel, at first i assumed you talking about a server admin panel like webmin

Probably around 3k, it obviously depends on the host node load.

I've always called it a Control Panel, I wonder where CPanel got the C from... :no_mouth:

For 8 cores. Which are 4 physical cores anyway.

For comparison I've just setup kimsufi with "Intel Xeon E3-1245v2 - 4c/8t 3.4GHz" And that benches 3.3k in geekbench5. Which would be comparable I think, CPU in this offer is probably a bit newer but its not really dedicated only to you.

Just double checking, the cores are dedicated correct (I mean in theory)?

I'm talking about this version. Not the threads.

  • I know

Dedizierte Kerne 8 (inkl. Nested Virtualization)

But im pretty certain this is not 8 physical cores, its 4 with hyperthreading.

  • and i wish to know is this 20tb or 40tb bw

    20TB

False advertising? Let's see when it delivers. I think it's 8 cores.

  • 8 CPU Threads .... threads are commonly termed as VPS cores
Check with any provider on LET

Gotcha. Didn't know that! I was using Google translate on the site and it literally said dedicated cores. I guess I'll ask them to cancel my order before I deploys!

This is the problem with some of the German providers. How much would it cost them to translate it properly into English?
I also translated it as 8 "Kerne" which is cores.
So it is now threads, and I wonder If they are dedicated. Can anyone confirm?

Someone mentioned refund can be requested in the first 14 days so you always have that option.

No its not false advertising. They are in fact dedicated (logical) cores.
It means that you will get one thread (logical core) from one physical core dedicated. It DOESN'T mean that you get 4 physical cores. You just get one thread per core and someone else sits on second thread. It can scale perfectly (8x) or slightly worse (6x), but because its dedicated nobody will throttle you to 1/4 performance like on other VPSes in this price range.
This is middleground between typical VPS and dedi.
