Kindly suggest a lightweight Linux desktop

LXDE is my weapon of choice.

    Thank you @Nekki. Much appreciated.
Debian 10 or 11 with LXDE

I am trying to conserve memory here. I need to run a single task in desktop mode.

With a desktop idling on Debian 11, I'm using 756MB.

Edit: Most of the memory is being used by NoMachine and PulseAudio, so you'll likely get much lower usage with a desktop + VNC or something like that.

  • I've ordered a Pheonix VPS but it's pending for a long time (~1h).
Is it normal? (I am an active customer with an active VPS in Amsterdam)

If you can get by with a simple window manager, I'd recommend awesomewm. Easy to use unlike some other window managers which force you to tile stuff or do not come with a built-in application menu.

I'm not quite sure.. is it 10Gbit or 1Gbit? yabs seems like 10Gbit, website says 1Gbit.

It's 10 Gbps shared, in FRA or PHX, as confirmed on previous sale by @InceptionHosting
This time I grabbed 3+1 = 4 VM's. It's hard to resist to this nice deal.

    Burstable to 10 Gbit

I am getting download speed > 2 gbits

Don't use speedtest.net to check it, some of those servers cannot even manage 10 Gbit :) they are meant for residential home connection measurement.

We give examples of what can be used, we dont ask for anything specific, to my knowledge only 1 person has mentioned a national ID card and they said they cant provide it because it has a different name on it to the account... so not a lot we can do with that sorry if that was you.

No. YAB is pretty fast. Fail ocuring due to swap missing and ram overload. Create swap before test.

Well, the adverts did come with a benchmark warning :)

Benchmarks over the next week will be stupid, everyone will be doing it and it is a shared resource environment at the end of the day, we only use enterprise-grade kit, please be considerate when testing over the next week.
