Or perhaps from the many, many servers they have had racked for a few years.

oh heck yes! Just placed an order - waiting for delivery - I'm surprised this was even still available since I'm so late on the ordering!

Update: Got it like 1 minute after paying! Prepping it!

Update: Smart shows me power on hours of /dev/sda as 28218 - not so bad compared to others
/dev/sdb is 27328 - not bad as well!

Update: Confirming upload is 100 Mbit / sec and download is 1 Gbit / sec

  • I already swore to myself I wouldn't get any servers for Black Friday, yet here I am. It's not even Black Friday yet :(

You ain't going to get 4TB of SSD with 14.99€, no fucking way.
The only reason why this is so cheap, it was likely a SYS before with disks.

They just had it in the rack and are reselling it on Kimsufi now.

  • i mean 2x250gb ssd instead of 2x2tb hdd

  • @wii747 said:
Got one its a good deal! Delivery was less then 5 minutes. HDD are very worn out though.
Disk 1 power on hours is 22581

This is around 2.5 years, which isn't so dramatic.

Disk 2 power on hours is 49928

This is over 5.5 years, which is a little dramatic.

    Thanked by 1iKeyZ
  • Currently at 31817 & 42849. The second call to sdb definitely takes a bit longer too, although no errors shown (yet...)

Don't complain about the disks, Hitachi are good ones, they will last for much longer than this. I have a few running right now with 69, 73, 76, 79 and 87k hours in a server at home. Each has 5-10 reallocated sectors, but they do not grow further. And besides, that the disks are not brand-new is perhaps one of the main reasons how this can be so cheap. So asking for new disks at the same price feels a little selfish. "Hi OVH, please lose money on me".

Well, the dramatic moment comes up, when you did trust in Raid 1 and you hit your first disk failure.
Most of the disk age seem to be similar with a few exceptions.

You think you are safe, the technican replaces the broken disk and you resync the raid.

  • Yeh the resync of the raid will fubar the 2nd disk

would it be a good idea to host a big vbulletin forum on this server? it has a lot of ram so almost all the database will fit in ram

actually the big forum is on a server with ssds and also 32gb of ram

    Get the SYS deal instead.

  • Pretty good deal for the price. There wasn't a good deal like this in years at Kimsufi.

Got mine in France RBX6 DC here are the test results.

  • I don't understand why you complain...
Even with only one 2Tb drive, 15€/m is a very good deal
I checked on internet and this solution was called SP-64 but here you have 32Gb RAM. OVH was renting this server 81€/m!
Thank you LET for this catch

  • 42k hours on both disks should be fine. Might hand it down to my kids some day.

Does anyone know if this CPU performs well at transcoding (Plex)?

  • If this was 1 GBps up/down, I'd buy in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, I got a KS-3 for 5.99 monthly for my linux ISOs and it already serves me well. Great deal though!

Are you still able to use the whole /64 IPv6 via ndppd?

  • Very tempting!
