Could you please update the linux kernel?
Ubuntu20 template comes with an ancient 3.10

They all come with the same kernel. It's part of OpenVZ 7.

Get a KVM or LXC plan elsewhere if you really require a newer kernel.
As far as I am aware of, OVZ7 supports Docker and FUSE (both confirmed by @ezeth).

It should also support TUN (although a ticket may be required to activate it) and Wireguard if the host node has the kernel modules plus OVZ patch.

tun/tap can be enabled in virtualizor, but i have not tried wireguard

Does anybody know if I can run bitwarden_rs (docker) on on the 512MB VPS?

I’m running it (Now renamed to VaultWarden) on a 512MB RAM KVM with nginx.

It is working fine, Ran usage is around 250MB, OpenVZ shoule use less.

I tried wireguard after enabling tuntap and it worked fine.

    I ran this script https://github.com/Nyr/wireguard-install

453 and #454, not sure which one as I cannot log in to the panel at the moment.

Sorry for the delay - been busy the last week and hadn't checked in here.

Looking forward to that. All servers that I used from OpenNIC were quite unstable. I know it is on a best effort as it is run by volunteers, but having both DNS resolvers fail at the same time is no fun.

I'm using my own OpenNIC resolvers since years and so far didn't notice any major issue.
Of course it's recommended to configure at least two servers in case one fails as they aren't anycasted.

    Currently serving:

What software do you use? BIND? I was interested in setting up a tier 2 server, but BIND seems to be somewhat unsafe. And serving domain name queries in UDP entails the risk of aiding reflection attacks. Can I operate an OpenNIC resolver for TCP only?

    Deadpool already

While starting a deadpool pool in a providers offer thread is very much a dick move, I do think this thread will still be open and bumped when he does realize there's no profit, whining customers and he has no life or money and then deadpools.

It sounds like he got revenue of about 5K on loss leaders and still has a year of overhead to eat away the tiny margins. I don't even know if it'd worth it if he did the same thing 12 times a year.

Well, he'll learn a lot from this first business.

Yes, I'm using BIND. BIND isn't unsafe, it's the DNS protocol itself. Similiar to operating any other server (web, mail etc.) it's your task to configure it properly. To protect against abuse, adequate rate limits and filtering abusive queries (with iptables etc.) are helpful; and ongoing monitoring essential.

Running a TCP-only resolver won't make sense as almost all DNS clients will use UDP for regular queries.

Thanks for your order. Although I need the VPSID sent in your mail. Please PM me it :P

I'd like to add that I've turned off the IO limit on all plans. Someone PMed me this,

Hey. I have two completly different IO results on two VPS from you.

This is from your $0.5 promo

Block Size 4k (IOPS) 64k (IOPS)
    Read 9.93 MB/s (2.4k) 11.04 MB/s (172)
    Write 9.96 MB/s (2.4k) 11.52 MB/s (180)
    Total 19.90 MB/s (4.9k) 22.56 MB/s (352)
Block Size 512k (IOPS) 1m (IOPS)
    ------ --- ---- ---- ----
    Read 10.26 MB/s (20) 11.13 MB/s (10)
    Write 11.37 MB/s (22) 11.94 MB/s (11)
    Total 21.64 MB/s (42) 23.07 MB/s (21)

This is from charity thing with FAT32

Block Size 4k (IOPS) 64k (IOPS)
    Read 35.19 MB/s (8.7k) 98.52 MB/s (1.5k)
    Write 35.29 MB/s (8.8k) 99.04 MB/s (1.5k)
    Total 70.49 MB/s (17.6k) 197.56 MB/s (3.0k)
Block Size 512k (IOPS) 1m (IOPS)
    ------ --- ---- ---- ----
    Read 121.08 MB/s (236) 126.69 MB/s (123)
    Write 127.51 MB/s (249) 135.13 MB/s (131)
    Total 248.59 MB/s (485) 261.83 MB/s (254)

And since I got nodewatch anti abuse running on the VM, it occured to me that I no longer need to limit the IO.

So starting from now, all new orders will also have unlocked IO bandwidth and IOPS. I think before this was set to 1k IOPS
