How to start a small hosting company?

Hi,
I wanted to know how I can start a small hosting company?
like start with $10 or $30-40 and grow it slowly.

I have seen lot of reseller program but I personally didn't like most of them. Does anyone know a good and reliable solution.

Thank you

    1,
    If you are asking how to start a host on LET, you really did not look into this forum at all or do any research on your own.
    2,
    No, I know its summertime and everyone wants a summer host but please NO!
    sub $50 budget makes me cry.....
    In 2014 I opened my own host after 6 months of work and research with almost $4000 starting capital.....

    Please on behalf of the hosting community don't do this.

    Will I be provided with any type of panel. e.g. cpanel?

    I think that I will start something too. Maybe VPS servers in Bosnia and Herzegovina (ultra giga mega offshore, more offshore than Moldova). And for web hosting I guess it will be via BuyVM Lux + Hetzner Germany. 💁🏻‍♂️ As I have Bosnian passport and citizenship, the company will be opened there.

    We offer free Blesta billing software for you to manage your clients.

    You will have access to vps and web hosting reseller control panel to make and sell your own plans.

    Please do note, services are self managed, which means we do expect you to read the knowledgebase and documentations before opening up a ticket.

    However, we are always here to guide in the right direction :)

  • Hi @mhmhmhmhmh we are more than happy to help you out on your journey in starting a hosting company just flick @dustinc a message

    To start small hosting company you should:

    1. Build a small data center;
    2. Get few small servers;
    3. Rent small team of 5 people;
    4. Setup small infra;
    5. Create small website and deploy necessary software for billing and support;
    6. Be ready for 3 years straight loss;

    That's it. It is a small operation, keep positive.

  • At first, you need to decide, which products you will sell.

    If you just would like to sell shared hosting, then you can rent a reseller hosting.
    If you want to sell VPS, then you can resell/set up your own Virtualizor.
    If you want to sell dedicated servers, then you can resell by adding managed support.

    At first, decide your product.

    The smallest server recently available is @DataIdeas-Josh Raspberry Pi Zero:

    If you want even smaller server, go for an ESP32 microcontroller:

    • 2x 240MHz dedicated Xtensa core
    • 320KB internal user RAM + 4MB external RAM
    • 4MB storage, for program and filesystem
    • 54Mbps wireless port

    Can we get even smaller? Theoretically.

    $10 is too much, get a domain from freenom, vps from oracle cloud and start your hosting company

  • This thread is just a f*cking joke, you do not start a "hosting company" with a budget of 10$. Stop providing him more fuel to start one, this host will end asap and then all the clients will most likely lose their data and lose their interest in trying to host things by theirselves or code things / make things work. If you want to start hosting like a professional, start with your own massive budget to actually setup something big and great. Not a simple cPanel reseller from nexusbytes. For example you could take a dedicated of @Ian_Dot_Tech to start out with, pretty cheap. Install Virtualizor on it grab a few clients and a company registration and you're ready to go. That already requires you to have a budget of 250$+ (Not to mention WHMCS themes, licenses etc etc).

    I recommend a sub 50 cents MCU from China. They are a tad bit more expensive than the cheapest ones but they come with a couple of kB of memory built-in and you can link flash storage. If you are ready to spend even $1 for a MCU I can recommend a 552 which even has a build-in USB 2 controller (incl. PD!). Colo will also be cheap because you can fit hundreds of them in 1 HU and they need only mW of power. Then you build a single "distributor/controller" with 1 ethernet port and a couple of 485 lines to which you connect your hundred or so server modules via UART.

    Don't think small, think big, go buy out @seriesn (Nexusbytes) in 1 year as your goal.
    Go buy out @Francisco (BuyVM) next until the planet is yours.
    Then take mars.
