    I have GL.iNet GL-AR750 home router:

    • 1 MIPS core 650Mbps
    • 128MB RAM
    • 16MB flash storage
    • 2TB HDD via USB 2.0
    • 3x 100Mbps Ethernet ports
    • separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz radios

It runs OpenWRT 19.07 operating system, with these services:

    • Hurricane Electric SIT tunnel for IPv6 connectivity
    • SAMBA for accessing the HDD
    • OpenConnect VPN server for remote access from outside

    Of the three Ethernet ports:

    • one connects to the uplink
    • one connects to a BeagleBone Black, running HTTP server and Named Data Networking software; this device has more RAM and a full Debian OS, so it complements the home router
    • one connects to a long cable, plugged into different devices as I play with them; when necessary, I have a 48-port 100Mbps switch to get more ports

All other devices connect wirelessly, secured by WPA2.
Certain IoT gadgets not made by myself have a separate SSID, so that their broadcast messages do not reach my battery powered tablets.
If I have visitors, a new SSID will be provisioned for each visitor, using their name as SSID and phone number as passphrase.
Gadget and visitor networks have separate subnets, but are not otherwise firewalled.

Internal IP address allocation is handled by DHCP.
Some devices have static IPv4 and IPv6, configured on the DHCP server, to facilitate remote access.
Named Data Networking is supported natively via Ethernet multicast, with the BeagleBone Black as a router.

The uplink is Verizon FiOS 100Mbps service, in Washington DC market.
Monthly cost is USD $40; it went up to $75 last year, but came down after I called them saying I'm considering Comcast.
200Mbps would be same price, but it's not supported by this home router, and gives no benefit as I rarely use more than 60Mbps.

I have always wondered if someone has used this as a "production" router. I have a AR750 and a AR750S that I travel with (with usage with EasyTether for unlimited hotspot) but never considered one full time.

How is performance pushing all that through that device?
