Need KVM in Germany/Europe | 10-20$ yearly

Hi
I need a VPS in Germany or anywhere local to me (I live in Rostock, Germany)
so following countries:

  • Poland
  • Germany
  • UK
  • Netherlands
  • Denmark
  • Luxemburg
  • Belgium
  • Austria
  • Czech Republic

with following specs:

  • full IPv4 (no NAT)
  • 512 Mb ram or higher (preferably 1Gb) (512Mb minimum)
  • 10+ Gb SSD (20Gb raid preferably) (NO HDD)
  • Ability to upgrade storage down the line (unless the storage is 30 Gb SSD already)
  • KVM or something with great compatibility (more below) (no OpenVZ)
  • Bandwidth minimum 500gb
  • Ubuntu 18 LTS or higher
  • PayPal or PaySafeCard or Sofort or Klarna
  • MAX 20$ (with tax) per year, preferably 1$ a month

Usage:

  • I don't plan to do illegal stuff
  • most likely no adult content (will read rules obviously)
  • Git server
  • WireGuard VPN (pesky ads...)
  • Control Center for my home (raspberry Pi 4 is good but arm not so :(
  • basic backup of passwords, settings and whatever super important I have

sadly https://www.oracle.com/cloud/ needs a credit card I don't have...
RackNerd from what i see has nothing in Amsterdam left :(

Any offers? I found bunch of but either expired or sold out...

Comments

  • does sadly not :( with tax it's 24€ which is more than i can currently spend...
unless I can't find anything else I'll wait 2-3 weeks and order it once i have bit more cash, but then it's a yearly payment that hits every year, but then it's pretty good deal... but then again 2gb ram is too much for simple VPN, python script and a GIT server

the storage VPS sounds great but i have no use for 128gb (10TB is another story... stupid and amazing RAW files) also it's HDD and I really want speed (hence the location as well)

  • www.hostloc.com for best chinese vps

Anything at that price is likely to be a special offer / limited time, so a requirement to upgrade storage in the future will eliminate most of those too.

true, but then i don't know how big my git repository can get... shouldn't be that big...
30Gb would be more than enough, that would leave me with solid 20-25Gb to use for pure GIT

10Gb is tight but should do for now

If a provider offers a special, it typically cannot be upgraded at the same price level (there are of course exceptions). Therefore you should either state the storage requirement allowing for future growth; or assume you will need to look for a new deal when you outgrow the current one (in which case the requirement to upgrade can be removed). Up to you of course, I have no skin in this game.

I think Virtono.com has what you are looking for and iirc they have even a Frankfurt location.

I have such a VPS from them and am largely happy with it (for the price). Here's what you get for €15/year:

1 vCPU, 512 MB mem., 15 GB SSD, 1 Gb/s and 1 TB bandwidth (KVM based).

For €23.40/yr you get 1 GB mem. and 25 GB SSD.

Oh yeah, I forgot about VAT. For Git, why not use CodeCommit? It comes under always free category and has 50 GB free storage.
You can use one NAT vps for vpn.

If you can fine-tune your maximum budget a bit, @seriesn can get you sorted.

If not, let's see if @WebHorizon or @georgedatacenter can get you something.

I know I can, but don't like NAT in general.. also i would like to see if i can open a port thru VPN
So for example i can host a Minecraft server thru a VPN and hide my own IP that way...
also full IPv4 is more flexibility later...
I used to have NAT and didn't like it

    CodeCommit?
gotta try it tbh but the having full vps means i can add git-related scripts etc as well...

Hi, I'm using RackNerd for like 2 years already but

    so rip :(

half yearly would work too... but then i prefer something cheap which I'm 100% sure i can pay next year
I know it's little money and I'm expecting a tiny bit too much?
but being jobless + lockdown + other issues + it's a yearly payment that hits every year... so trying something cheap for exact purpose, just WireGuard, one script and git server
I already have 2 other VPS' (RackNerd) but don't wanna mix my community with personal stuff... (safety/privacy reasons as well)

Also to everyone else, I read your comment and I'll consider it and leave an update after i purchase something, keep them coming !

And yes I'll also consider my budget or my plan in general

  • Vouch for Webhosting24.com, search for their promo (Chinese New Year I guess)

  • Thanks for all the offer !

I made my choice (awaiting further answers by the hosting person)

I'll let you know who and why when It's all done :)

  • Alright,
    Here is my short conclusion:

Went with @WebHorizon, The deal I got offered ticks all the boxes above.
I can't give details but another reason were pretty upfront rules and he was able to answer whatever concern I might have, regarding what can I and can't I do, pretty fair !
Also right away quote for upgrading storage in future is neat
Also it's Polish IP which comes very useful for me (Im polish and lots of content is blocked here)

There were a lot of good offers I got to admit !

Also i decided to try my luck and got https://www.oracle.com/cloud/ working, to be fair it took me 1.5h to open a port...
but got to see what works and does not after 30days, the German and English website state different things (wtf?)

    Thanks everyone for your offers!

If you have read my article, 1.5h would become 15m.
