New NL node with 10Gbps port, speed test and benchmark

edited November 2013 in General

Just got a NL node with 10Gbps port, did some speed tests and benchmarks, following are the results. The disk I/O is not too great as we're waiting for larger disks and supported raid card to be shipped to the DC.

Your inputs are highly appreciated on whether you'd like to get a OpenVZ VPS on this node.

    :)

  • What to do with this kind of network speed? The connectivity to around the world not that good.

  • I could use it for my speedtest script... let's see some yearly offers.

  • Thanks, will surely keep you in mind.

  • Have already contacted the provider.

    Cool!

  • Are you sure you are able to use that 10gbit. I know that many people are advertising with '10gbit' from serverius but aren't able to use it.

Serverius wouldn't be my first choice for any production server.

  • You made me laugh, 2x10 Gbps inside a DC. This connection to the world doesn't make any sense.

  • How about this?

    axel -a -n 10 http://mirror.i3d.net/10000mb.bin

Great, but with you speedtests you're writing the files to disk instead of -O /dev/null? Also speedtesting at that level is often not possible with only one connection, try axel

  • After a long discussion I've canceled the server.

  • lol, what????

  • @tommy said:

Yup that's right the I canceled the server due to network speeds outside EU. I can order the same again depending on demand. BTW just setting up a Turkey node.

  • as in, not more than Gbit outside the EU? Because thats not unusual... no matter how much and what transit you have.

Serverius 10G is pretty useless as said however.

  • Yeah that sucked big time.
