What ssh tools do you recommend?

  • What platform are you on? Your title made me think you are looking for an SSH software on linux but there's a default terminal so now I'm thinking you're on Windows perhaps?

    PuTTY

    Thanked by 1Ticaga
  • mRemoteNG is quite useful for multiple connections, Bitvise SSH Client for a few extra bells and whistles, but I find mostly Putty does the job.

  • WinSSHterm. Free (you donate) and it's the best after Xshell.

  • ssh on MacOS and WSL (or you can enable ssh on Windows and use via CMD)

  • Using primarily Debian(WSL), sometimes windows cmd. All runs from Windows Terminal.

  • DPDP Administrator, The Domain Guy

Termius on mobile and good ol’ PuTTY on Windows.

On Windows ... old Putty is the king!

  • ZOC

  • Putty in Windows and Juicessh in android mobile.

  • Sometimes I use Windows Terminal, sometimes Hyper, both with pre installed openSSH on Windows 10

  • I enjoy Termius on MacOS and iOS/PadOS.

  • Termius on Mac. As a student you have the pro version 4 free.

Any chance of making your question more precise?

I like Termius as well. Runs on mobile as you said and I use it on Windows and Mac. Its not free but it does sync all the hosts with all your devices.

    JuiceSSH is great.
I especially like its convenient keyboard, and the option to select one SSH session as a proxy of another SSH session.
I dislike its identity management: some of my SSH servers have a different username but the same public key, but there isn't an easy way to clone an identity. I prefer being able to specify username independently from selecting a private key.
A recent update in JuiceSSH changed to an uglier font.

I prefer the SSH from Git for Windows to the "OpenSSH Client" Windows feature.
Last time I tried, the Windows SSH lacks ProxyCommand option, but git SSH has this option.

I used Termius in the past but now they are requiring a login.
I haven't found an alternative, and I hope I wouldn't be caught with only an iPhone and needing to access SSH servers.

You can just skip the login bit.

  • SuperPutty if you're cheap and SecureCRT if you don't mind paying.

  • Switched over to Alacritty on Arch about a year ago and never looked back. Customizable and super fast. Love this terminal.

  • Termius and Putty, sometimes when I'm on Linux, I'll just use the built-in OpenSSH client

  • Putty , MobaXterm and JuiceSSH

  • Bitvise SSH Client
