  • Hey torrenters with Polar Bears who plan to ask for refund, don't do that lets arrange transfer to me instead. I'd be happy to shelter two Polar Bears in my small VPS zoo.

    @chocolateshirt I kindly thank you for suggestion although I did that a few times before your post. My message is to those who already have their Polar Bear provisioned and wanted to get rid of it due to policy changes. And I wish to get those sooner than two weeks until new stock arrives.

    The people you are targeting are still waiting for improvement on disk performance.

    Yes, but people are so impatient you know. And if no one wishes to transfer their storage VPS now, I can wait until new stock arrives.

    Hi Everyone,

    Some updates

    • I see disk performance improved alot , and finally now it is usable
    • The decision to ban torrent was not easy as unlike other plans we had really higher than average users using it as seedbox . we can take it that few people download torrent from time to time but dedicated seedboxes and alot of them are sure to kill any storage solution regardless of how well it is planned
    • From today we will focus on SSD plans to improve their performance as well , we will not ban torrent on them but there is some things we can improve
    • Servers are not crowded at all , on average we have less than 3 users on each 8TB disk which is by all means not crowded but having all users coming in one wave really affected the performance first few days (till now but to lesser extend) (also Ram is dedicated and cpu usage is low in general )

    Now for the prizes , the team worked for few hours to create excel sheel with user rofiles so we do the draw

    the idea is that we do this

    In excel sheet we write the username for each commit up to three
    if the commit is with order id that is active then the user name will be written 5 times (for each order)

    the final sheet has 384 entries

    will run random generator for between 1 and 384 for 10 times and the username that match the number is winner

    If you prefer we can give the excel sheet to @FAT32 (if he agrees ) and ask him to run the number generator to pick up winners (since he is independent)

    Thanks

    Before servarica give me the Excel sheet, here's the hash of the magic seed I will be used to generate

    Sorry I just noticed that the excel sheet is here, I thought it will be done via PM instead.

    Anyway, let me quickly take a look and get the result out in an hour :)

    Code used for generating the number (Similar concept that was used in the past provider polls)

    echo -n "Servarica Storage 2020 Lucky Draw 384 - @FAT32" | shasum -a 256
    d924482325e668f8258b04ed514effe62c0c0ecd3260b7ab4fa8bcb513ed2291

    const seedrandom = require('seedrandom');
    const MAGIC_SEED = 'Servarica Storage 2020 Lucky Draw 384 - @FAT32';
    const USERS_COUNT = 384;
    const rng = seedrandom(MAGIC_SEED + '_' + USERS_COUNT);

    for (let i = 0; i < 10; i++) {
      console.log(Math.ceil(rng() * USERS_COUNT));
    }

    Output:

    356
    218
    243
    379
    122
    240
    52

    [@servarica_hani]: if the commit is with order id that is active then the user name will be written 5 times (for each order)

    With my luck I surely wouldn't have won this anyways, but despite commenting with an active order#, my username appeared only twice in the draw. and I must not be the only one, as only 384 rows feels off.

    I understand this must have been compiled manually and all but ...

    feelsbadman :'(

    p.s. - Congratulations to all winners. The service performing acceptably is all the reward I hoped for. B)

    I did not expect to win this as I do not win that anyway.

    But I feel good about the server and as you said, that is all that matter.
