Even if they did, it'll just be another flash sale, on Black Friday.

no but OVH will have a trash sale like every year.

  • No. They don't offer anything tasty on Black Friday.

  • To be fair, I don’t understand that Kimsufi is still attractive. Their offerings have been the same for the last ten years and it’s showing. It’s time that they stock up with new low end hardware.

    • Processing power is nonexistent on cheaper boxes
    • Lacking RAID makes them unsuitable for storage services
    • 100Mbps is 5 times slower than my home connection
    • Hetzner auction boxes give a lot more bang for the buck on the more expensive boxes

They do have software raid for servers with at least 2 drives.

I know plenty who use these for unmetered linux ISO seeding boxes. Not the best seeding performance per dollar compared to SoYouStart ARM, but it's the few cheaper dedis that let you do this.

You don't, and others run 70k visitor per day websites off a 10 Euro server.

Just fine for storing backups, or anything where it's not the only copy anyway.

Which you can use 24/7, I doubt the same will fly for long on a home connection. And with OVH's highly regarded DDoS protection.

  • Is it getting expensive with the same hardware? When I arrived to LET I managed to grab a KS4C (i5, 16GB, 2TB, 100mbps) for $13 I think, I miss that server.

@debaser said: Processing power is nonexistent on cheaper boxes

Not sure about this, but it's cheap enough.

@debaser said: Lacking RAID makes them unsuitable for storage services

Maybe for you (and me). There are a lot of uses for large single disks.

"my" is the key here. Kimsufi is 5 times faster than my home connection.

    Not available in North America.

Congrats on picking that one config, besides the KS1 in CA that never has been in stock since years.
    Good Luck on your journey.

Psst: There is a chance that your KS1 comes with a 1TB drive.

If you pay in €€€, you can register for an USD International Account, the money you save for a KS1 per year is about 10$, so you get free setup.
