Just noticed this..
Oddly enough 48 GB of ram upgrade is only $10/mo! and an extra 500 GB drive is $5/mo

Thanks Dude.. It's the weekend and I've had a few.. ;) hopefully that 48 GB of Ram is not a mistake!

I'm finding it hard to keep a server longer than a month with all these deals popping up so often!

  • Saw this earlier today. Is this better than their E3-1230v2 deal? Same price of 50/mo

If your intent is to resell VPS's then I would think the extra cores would make this a better deal..

Yeah, I had to pass on this one. However much I want it, out of money already to spend on servers. :(

Game servers, E3s have been running game servers pretty well for me. Dual Xeon L5420s work decent too, but 24 threads is a huge overkill.

But for the same price, which would be better?

  • Anyone know if they will offer additional IP's?

I know this month has been a real killer for me as well.. I don't think I will be purchasing this.

Math is not my strong science, however, since when 2x4x2=24 ?

Hard to say cause I don't really game.. but the CPU Mark for the E3 1230 is lower @ 8014

They also have a sale for November for the L5420 which is only $39/mo now

i think its a Hex Core Xeon 5639

    2 x 6 x 2 = 24

should be round 75 cent per IP at /29 block. not really sure thought just ask them..

Argh.. please don't make me do math now.. I've had a few brews and am somewhat challenged lol.

but from datashack it's 12 cores and 24 threads.. so it's HT

It's actually dual hexacore processor. He write it wrongly.

I think the 48 GB Ram upgrade is a mistake for $10/mo.. wonder if they will honor it?

Forgot to mention, thanks for pointing that out :)

48 is probably not a typo. That machine with 72gb of RAM is $529 on e-bay. Probably took out 16 of the 18 DIMMs and resold them to buy HDDs.

Edit: but still a good price, that's a pretty power hungry (1.5-2 amp) machine.

No it comes with 8 GB standard but I think the upgrade to 48 GB of ram for $10/mo extra maybe a mistake, since upgrading to 24 GB of ram is already a $20/mo addon
