Why idrac specifically not HP iLO or IPMI ? If you don’t mind me asking.

  • Have a look at Online.net offers

  • do you have any requirements other then IDRAC? how many ips?

  • Hetzner has Dell servers with iDrac but they are more expensive than $85.

I'm not top informed about dedicated Dell offers, but lets just do a little math game here: lets say you can get a cheap colocation for a 1U server for 40$ (already inclusive fair use of internet and power) - that would already be a good offer in my opinion - that would leave the provider 45$ per month to pay off the server. After 5 years, that would be (45$ x 12 x 5) 2.700$. Did you ever look at the price of a new Dell PowerEdge server such as the R640? Not saying its impossible - you aren't asking for a new one after all -, but there is a reason why Hetzner charges beyond 200€ per month for their Dell servers...

If I'm not mistaken a R620 does come with (or can be upgraded to) idrac 7. Such servers can be bought for about $350 2nd. hand incl. 2 processors and 64 GB memory, excl. disks.

I don't have any special requirements and would like to check the offers in case they exist. Would be good to have stable network and good uptime with A+B feed.
Hint: I don't need or expect brand new top equipment. R620 would be quite enough.

    Will supermicro IPMI work instead?
