    I have been shipping 2U servers to @Hetzner_OL Germany for the last 2 months which have cost around $160 USD via Fedex Express. If you DM me the city, zip and country I can get a more exact quote.

    Thanks for your interest in our dedicated server!
    SRV-30 can be colocated at our facility for $51/month.

    Below is more detailed information relating to our colocation.

    Our base colocation is $35/month and includes:
    1amp @ 120V
    1U rack space
    10TB Bandwidth on 1Gbps port
    DDoS protection and network from Hivelocity.
    /29 IP subnet

    Additional upgrades:
    $16/amp
    $10/U.
    We are waiving the $10/U fee on servers purchased from us making a 2U server no extra cost over a 1U server.

    Do you have a rough cost for adding some drives/RAM to some of these servers if we were to co-locate them with you?

    How much would colocation of the Dual E5649 R710s be roughly?

    Regarding drives, these are hot-swap bay we can install them for free. We don't sell drives, so if you would like a drive, you can find one on Amazon, Newegg or Ebay and we can order it for you at cost.

    RAM is roughly $23-25 per 16GB DIMM to increase them.
    At the current state the Dell R710 E5649 with 12GB RAM in my opinion is not worth colocating. It will draw too much power for the low RAM it has.
    The cost would be $51/month though.

    I think these dual socket systems will be out of where I'm looking at in general now that I think of it, the Westmere stuff is enough for my CPU needs but the dual socket nature kills me on the power bills.

    In the $50/month range (which is very, very reasonable) I can rent a fairly good machine and it unfortunately would make no economic sense shipping back to me in Europe. If I was in the states I'd probably buy both of them.

    No sorry that is something we don't offer at this time.

    Yes we do!

    Our base colocation is $30/month for blade servers and includes:

    I have a grand plan..

    If they still exist on 31th day, i'll buy one Dell server and buy cheap parts from aliexpress (CPU, RAM, Heatsinks and pay Ian for install service to replace some of the components. then colocate it for ~50 USD/m in Ian's location.

    Total cost would be about 300-400 USD for insanely specced dedi thats mine to own and costs 50-70 USD per month to maintain remotely. I don't get why anyone else havent thought about this. Sure, some parts will be DoA but i'll just get spares into same aliexpress order.

    edit: nvm, its actually more expensive to buy from aliexpress than have Ian order it. I love the fact hes willing to customize the servers for a price.

    I like this idea. Keeps perfectly functioning hardware from going into landfills. I buy my tech mostly second-hand and refurbish them for this reason. I don't have any use now, but if @Ian_Dot_Tech is still offering something like this in a year or two, I will consider grabbing one.
