OpenNebula/vOneCloud - Your experience?

Hi guys,

Looking into OpenNebula/vOneCloud since it seems pretty straight.
Will be installed on top of VMware ESXi setup.

What is your experience with it? The purpose is to have a proper cloud management platform for clients.

  • VMware itself can't do it (dont want to buy vCloud etc - too expensive)
  • OpenStack seems to be a little advanced and complicated to setup
  • CloudStack - doesnt look so well :expressionless:

vOneCloud was interesting, but anyone using it with VMware? Does it work out well? Stable? Issues? Give me any kind of input - thanks :)

  • Hi @lowprofile,

As you probably already know, following the release of OpenNebula 5.12 “Firework” we have recently released a new version of vOneCloud that you can download from http://vonecloud.today and today we are announcing a new vOneCloud version with OpenNebula 5.12.0.1, a patch version of 5.10 series.

vOneCloud is a tool to help evaluate OpenNebula through a simple deployment in just a few minutes. We invite you to check some resources that may be of assistance:

    • vOneCloud Screencast guides you through the process of deploying vOneCloud on vCenter.
    • VMware Cloud Datasheet summarizes the features of OpenNebula on VMware.
    • VMware White Paper is a blueprint to guide IT architects, consultants, administrators and field practitioners in the design and deployment of public and private clouds based on OpenNebula on top of VMware vCenter.

    I hope it helps!
